The Cognitive Domain of traumatic experience is a time for reviewing the event and one's reactions to it. Education intervention in group contexts, such as Critical Incident Stress Managment (Mitchell & Bray, 1990), and therapeutic intervention by mental health professionals and pastoral care and counseling intervention can be employed to assist the victim and covictims of the traumatic event. Helping these individuals normalize their experience in the light of an abnormal (i.e., beyond normal) experience is part of this process of coping with victimization. |
