WORRY

 

Ill effects:

 

  1. Damages your health.
  2. Causes the object of your worry to consume your thoughts; divides your mind.
  3. Disrupts your productivity; causes you to make unwise decisions.
  4. Negatively affects the way you treat others.
  5. Reduces your ability to trust God. Drains your peace, joy, contentment.
  6. Immobilizes you because it drains your energy.
  7. Causes you to lose your security in Christ. Security means without anxiety.

 

7 Reasons We Worry, Coupled with 7 Reasons Not to Worry

From Matthew 6

 

  1. (v25) We do not trust Him with details of life.  (Inconsistent)

                  But he is trustworthy.

  1. (v26) We have a poor sense of self-worth which instills worry about the future,  which hampers the efforts today. (Irrational)
  2. (v27) Worry over things we can’t change. (Ineffective)

                  Allow God to be in control.

  1. (v28-30) Fail to trust God to meet our needs. (Illogical)

                  God does not ignore those that depend on Him.

  1. (v31-32)  Attempt to find contentment and security by following the world’s pattern. Shows lack of faith and understanding of God. (Irreligious)
  2. (v33)  Misplaced priorities in our life.

                  There are real challenges God wants us to pursue. Worry keeps us from them.

  1. (v34)  Try to live tomorrow today. (Plan)

                  Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry.

 

Worry is

  1. Irreverent
  2. Irrelevant
  3. Irresponsible
