Danger Of Anger - How to Handle It

 

Definition: Feeling of a strong displeasure

against a wrong we perceive against us.

 

Types of Anger:

1. Rage - uncontrolled anger (self center)

2. Resentment - repressed anger

3. Indignation - A desire to help a wrong

(not self centered)

 

Causes:

1. Do not get our way

2. Feel rejected

3. Loss

4. Feel Threatened

5. Something we have done to ourselves

 

Effects of anger:
1. Increase heart rate and BP --> stroke, heart attack
2. digestive system
3. skin disorder

4. depression

          unresolved conflict

          decreased Hope

           alcohol, drugs



How to deal with anger:
1. Own it. "I am angry." Call on the Holy Spirit.
2. Identify it.
3. Timely deal with it - Ephesians 4:26
4. Control tongue - James 1: 19-20, Ephesians 4:29,
      Proverbs 15: 1 , Ephesians 4:15
5. Forgive - Ephesians 4:31-32

6. Learn to identify those things that frequently make you angry. Ask Holy Spirit to be in control.

7. Never take revenge - Romans 12:17
