Lux et umbra vicissim, sed semper amor.*

Welcome, and I hope you'll explore my web site, which was created during a course I took in 2001. Part of the website contains my students' assignments, pictures, and club activities. The rest is more or less personal data--built as part of the course, and because I like html.

If we were logical, the future would be bleak, indeed.

But we are more than logical.

We are human beings, and we have faith, and we have hope, and we can work.

Favorite Internet Sites

Perhaps my favorite site on the Web is the homepage our our discussion group for Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books, Outlandish Voices. I serve as a moderator of this group of over 3000 fans of her writing.
Another favorite is A.Word.A.Day. Frequently I send Latinate words to my poor, beleaguered students.

I also love to sing , both in class and out. An alto II, I write grammar songs for my students, and sing in two groups at church. I love those creative outlets!

My favorite songwriter/guitarists and my beloved older cars.

I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not spend my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.--Jack London
