Pledge books
The pledge book is like the life force of the pledge.  They will go nowhere without it, (unless told to do so),  never leave it uncared for,  and if it is left alone, it is ususally locked up in their room or at the fraternity/sorority house.  It can sometimes be made out of wood or hard plastic, or sometimes it is just a regular binder.  It will be dressed up to look like the organization of which they are pledging.  All the pledge books must look exactly the same.  All the pages inside must be in the same order.  The pledge book contains everything.  It contains:

EDUCATION MATERIALS - The pledge book will contain all the necessary learning materials from the organization needed for them to pass the tests of the brothers/sisiters and of the fraternity or sorority itself.  A lot of material will have to be memorized because they will not be able to look in their pledge books when they are quizzed.  In most organizations there is a final written test that all pledges must pass.  If they have learned all that is in their books they should do just fine.

INFO ON OTHER GREEKS - The pledge books will not contain any secret info on other greeks at their school, but it will contain things like: each organizations colors, address of the main house, sorority flower, big bothers or sisters, little tidbits like that.  It can vary at each school.  And some don't even bother.  They feel that their organization is the olny one that counts on campus.

The books also contain usless things like signature pages and other things just to use up the pledges time.
***In some schools and organizations, the carrying of a pledge book is considered HAZING.  So if you don't see a pledge with one, it is probably concealed like in their backpack.
