just beautiful. Congratulations to all!!! ![]() Just read Cara's birth story--it's beautiful! I'm so happy to hear that a homebirth worked out for you (talking with you at the workshop several months ago, I don't think it was a decision you'd made yet). It sounds like you really set things up carefully and thoughtfully--choosing the people who were there, preparing and involving Eric, planning a selection of music.... I'm especially moved by Curt's involvement. What a beautiful story! Thanks for sharing with us! ![]() Congrats on your beautiful daughter. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see you soon. ![]() WOW!!! What a wonderful, powerful story. Thanks so much for sharing it. Both of my boys (Evan-5 and Cooper-3) will be actively present at the birth of their new sibling in about 5 weeks. I really enjoyed sharing this story with them (interestingly, they couldn't get enough of the picure of the placenta). Cara is such a lucky little baby to have been born in such a loving, gentle way. I wish you all the best, and can't wait to meet her at future LLL functions! ![]() This was wonderful! I didn't know you had a homebirth. We've had
three homebirths now, and Audrey was our midwife for the last one
(Seth's three years ago). She was wonderful, by far the best birth
experience we had. ![]() Hey Missy, ![]() Well Missy, I cannot stop crying, really I can't. I have read every word and am moved beyond imagination. I am so honored to know you and to be in the same "LLLeague" as you are. I know how much you wanted this baby, too, so that plays into my emotions. I am so happy for you and so pleased to have been allowed to share in your story. I look forward to meeting dear Cara and hugging you... ![]() I read Cara's birth story & it sounded so wonderful! I am so happy it all went well. I know you are enjoying every minute with your new daughter! ![]() This diary that you all have here...and especially Cara is amazing. The value of this will only increase with age. Curt, you were telling me last night about your favorite moment...and it was very emotional for me to even read it. After giving it a little thought, it's such an incredible miracle that this little helpless, totally dependent being takes over control (of not just one, but several adults) in the moment and has such enormous power!! To me, that must be God in all his glory. Eric is a lucky child to really, really experience birth. The closeness he must feel as a brother from this experience brings tears to my eyes. And I think there will be an unconscious voice deep inside of him taking especially good care of her. The picture of Eric and Cara is beautiful, so is the 1 1/2 hour after birth family shot. I wish I'd thought of taking a picture of the afterbirth, it's really interesting, and I LOVE the heart shaped cord!! When I gave birth to both my children I saw the afterbirth...one time I was asked if I wanted to see it, and the other (Emmy) I had to ask to see it (this brought about a strange glance from a woman nurse). Craniosacral therapy is so interesting. Missy, sounds like an amazing topic to discuss with pregnant moms at LL. I am going to tell my sister (another Leader) all about it...in fact, I sent her the website adress because I know she will really enjoy the story. When Emmy was young she had reoccuring ear infections (from a span of 6-24 mo). I searched for alternatives to antibiotics and came across this therapy. My pediatrition thought I was, shall we say..."out-there". I wasn't able to find out much about it, for one thing nobody knew anything about it. I did find some info from a book by Dr. Robert Fulford (it was a best seller, but I forget the name right now). Anyway he practiced this approach with nothing short of amazing and "magical" results as well. Beautiful. ![]() WOW! I am in love with this birth story and your devotion to all things good! We think little Cara picked her family very well! Hope the sling is becoming more comfortable. I am so jealous of your possession of a tiny pink person to put in it...sigh! We just couldn't be happier for you and love you dearly. ![]() I hope all is well with the new and bigger family! Again, I so enjoyed your birth story!!! How wonderful! ![]() Hi again, Missy, Could we come at 1:00 Sunday? If that's not good, you name the time. I think it will be especially fun for Heather to see a tiny baby considering she'll have one in Jan. I read everything about Cara's delivery and I truly admire you for the way you handled it all! It's an amazing story. ![]() Missy-Thank you for sharing your story in such detail. Absolutely incredible. I feel like I was there. Your experience will undoubtedly have an impact on other women making birth choices... In fact, I am saving all this to share with my newly married niece (she and husband both 30-something and want a family soon) & my daughter in law (in grad school now) ... Anyway, thanks again for sharing this powerful experience. I hope little Cara is doing wonderfully well.
