The flashbang grenade is intended to temporarily stun and disorient opposing forces by producing a blinding flash and a deafening bang. Opponents (and indeed team mates) suffering from it's effects will have their hearing damaged (it will induce a loud ringing in their ears) and their vision effected - everything will turn white and they will be practically blinded making them sitting ducks. The length and intensity of these effects will vary depending on the proximity of the grenade when it goes off. If you are right next to the grenade (as well as suffering slight physical damage) you will be blinded for around 25 seconds and deafened for around 45 seconds. Note that your sight is worst affected if you are looking directly at the grenade Care should be taken when throwing this grenade as the fuse is extremely short and unless you are careful you will end up suffering the effects yourself. Similarly, defence against this grenade is hard as you will get very little warning and are unlikely to see it before it goes off. If you are affected you become next to useless so get in the prone position and wait until the effects wear off. |
