| PE Classes are held once a week. We participate in sports and games, like football, basketball, dodge ball, kickball, soccer, volleyball, jump ropes, hula hoops, relays, frisbees, whiffle ball, and various other games. Franklin School is a part of an Active and Healthy Schools Grant, provided and monitored by the Yavapai County Education Service Agency. We have been awarded a lot of various new equipment for recesses and PE. Some of this includes hockey, bowling, climbing, tininkling, scoops, tennis, tug of war, and scooters. You will have a lot of fun opportunities to learn new things. You may also be a part of the pedometer data study (measuring our activity levels during several weeks throughout the year). So be sure to dress appropriately for the pedometers as well. The pedometers need to fit on a waistband, preferably on pants, not a skirt if possible. We also participate in the Presidential Fitness Challenge each year. Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes (preferrably tennis shoes) on PE days. Don't wear large or dangling jewelry and NO GUM CHEWING!!! Remember the hot weather and wear hats or sunscreen, and drink lots of water. Mrs. Watson will teach Jr. High PE on Fridays and elementary classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please check your child's objective sheets to know what days they have PE. Make sure save the dates for the last month of school--Field Days!! We need all of you to participate and volunteer to help. 6th GRADE HEALTH Health will meet one or two days a week and will study wellness, values, decision making and goal setting, emotions, feelings, stress, friendship, peer pressure, families, respect, communication, conflict resolution, nutrition, physical activity, and various other topics as necessary. |
