The Week of September 21, 2009

Sixth grade students will complete their studies of the properties of water by discussing water and density and the important temperatures of water.  The properties of water unit will conclude with a test on Tuesday..  Students  have a study guide to help them prepare for the test. Next, students will move into their studies  of groundwater.

Seventh grade students will begin the next section of the Astronomy unit by learning about radiation from space, distances in space, and telescopes.  Then they will start learning about stars, and how they are classified.

Eighth grade students will complete their investigations on density as a characteristic property of matter and read about temperature and thermal energy. They will have a test on Thursday over properties of matter, density, and temperature. Beginning the new section under Properties of Matter, students will read about heat, heat transfer, and conductors and insulators.
