MOVIE NIGHT!
 at the

St. Albans Free Library

The St. Albans Free Library and the Franklin County Peace Alliance are hosting a set of 3 documentaries beginning Tuesday, November 27th at 6pm.

The other two movies will be announced and are to be shown January 29th, and February 26th.

The first will be: No End in Sight: The American Occupation of Iraq. From Representational Pictures and Magnolia Pictures.

Directed and Produced by Charles Ferguson.

Winner: Special Jury Prize, Documentary, 2007 at the Sundance Film Festival.

This is the first film of its kind to chronicle the reasons behind Iraq’s descent into guerrilla war, warlord rule, criminality, and anarchy. No End in Sight is a jaw dropping insider’s tale of wholesale incompetence, recklessness, and venality. It dissects the people, issues, and facts behind the Bush Administration’s decisions and their consequences on the ground to provide a powerful look into how arrogance, and ignorance turned a military victory into a seemingly endless and deepening nightmare of a war. (1 hour, 42 minutes)

“Ferguson delivers the calm meticulous survey of the U.S. policy that legions of critics of Michael Moore’s Farenheit 9/11 have been waiting for. Even well-informed audiences will find their jaws dropping.” Robert Koehler, Variety

Ty Burr of the Boston Globe says it “breathes fire with its lucid, unblinking condemnation of the current administration’s foreign policy failures.”

A.O. Scott of the New York Times reports “It’s a sober, revelatory and absolutely vital film.”

Rob Nelson of the Village Voice calls this movie “Enraging. Apocalyptic. Masterful.”
