01/28/2004It's been a week since my last blog entry. Much has happened in the past week: I worked as a waiter at the Chinese New Year ball organised by Kenneth-- a fire broke out in Guildhall afterwards but that's not the point; I officially started my dancing class; Kelvin, Lawrence, Tzo Zen and I are going to put up a dance item for the CUMSA Ball in Feb, and most important of all, we had the first snow in Cambridg this winter. Cambridge has sudden been transformed into a quaint medieval town covered in a blanket of icy white. It's a really pretty sight since I have't seen snow for quite a while, save for the blizzard at Yorkshire. Worked has picked up speed as well, despite the fact the I'm having brain freeze most of the time because of the weather. I worked my butts off from Mon to Wed with 10 hours of taught courses every day. God, that was really intensive. On the social front there hasn't been much going on, except I watched Tim's play, the Bear with the House One people. The next big thing will be my formal on my birthday. I really hope that many people would turn up and I'll get really pissed...

01/21/2004: Had a Chinese New Year reunion dinner with Lawrence, Tzo Zen, Kelvin and Daisuke after watching Tzo Zen's performance at the ADC. Her dance, the first in the show, was absolutely fantastic. Well, I don't pretend to be a huge fan of comtemporary dance, but that particular one really left an indelible impression on my mind as being satifyingly graceful and deeply meaningful. The choreography, done in stark constrast between black and white, symbolises the conflicts between the conscious and sub-conscious minds and how one struggles to reconcile the two. It was definitely the best dance I have ever seen.

The dinner afterwards was really fun, espcecially with Daisuke around. We sort of introduced him to various Chinese customs many of which I had never heard-- which was more than a bit embarrassing considering that I was actually the only person from China. Kelvin suggested doing a performance for the CUMSA ball, which I thought was an excellent idea.

As usually I spent an hour in the language centre doing French. I'm beginning to love the language. More practice in the future, definitely. Well, maybe I should start blogging in French...

J'aime le francais, par ce que c'est un langue tres belle. Je veux parler le plus francais.

01/21/2004: I'm so drunk that I can hardly type now. Licked at Coco's was absolutely fantastic! So many people from Peterhouse were there! I had a whale of a time dancing with my friends. Oh god, I have no idea how I am going to wake up tomorrow-- hopefully Sam will give me a calls, but I don't really think he will considering how pissed he is... Anyway, tonight was definitely the best clubbing experience I've ever had. Thanks for reading this. Good night.

01/20/2004: Phew. I've finally got around to blogging. There were so many things going on today at the same time today that I didn't even have time to have dinner! My original plan was to go for the Salsa Beginners' course in the evening right after my supervision but I forgot about the fact that Coco's is doing a special night tonight and nearly half of the college is going. Since I haven't been that active on the social scene since the term started, I decided to miss first Dance lesson and go clubbing instead. It is going to be worse tomorrow-- there's ballroom dancing, Tzo Zen's performance and a talk by the career service. Why must everything happen at the same time? Do they expect us split into halves? Oh, by the way, I applied for two internships during Easter and two jobs during summer. Not sure I'll get any.

01/18/2004: I went gliding for the first time in the Lent Term. By some miracle I woke up at 7.30 in the morning and managed to get to the Sidgwick Site on time. On the way Lawrence said something rather bizarre to me, but never mind, that's not the point. The day at Gransden was fantastic. My instructor, Neil Goodie was the most wonderful instructor I'd ever had and from his careful guidance, I could actually do a few smooth turns!! Dave and Clare turned up in the afternoon and we had quite some fun talking about the week we spent at Bicester. To complete the wonderful, I got to know quite a few people as well- Alex, who did a year at MIT, Grant, Stuart, Arshwan from Harvard and Daniel from Germany. What else do I expect from a Sunday? Right now as I'm typing this blog, I'm debating whether I should go to Queen's for a movie or go to the library to do some work. Well, I'll call Irene first to find out whether she's going.

01/16/2004: Hooray! The first day of the term went past really quickly. It feels really peculiar to start the old routine again- waking up at 830, rushing from one lecture from another and working in the library etc, but it's a nice feeling. I once read somewhere and all men crave for routine in life. Well, although it seems antithetical to the adventuous lifestyle I've always wanted, it's definitely true to some extent in my case. It's like being in full control of my life once more as opposed to the mess I've let my life become in the holidays.

01/15/2004: Invited 16 friends to Jin Ling for lunch after the disastrous test. Speaking of the test, I put in quite a bit of efforts into Physics but it turned out to be a lot worse than Chemistry for which I did practically nothing. But hell, it's over.

01/14/2004: I've just fixed the tag board. I must have missed out bits of code when I tried to align it, which was absolutely a nightmare. Do drop a line ya?

On a more grim note, the test is tomorrow. I've tried my best to revise but there're still bits that just defy understanding, especially chemistry. Will do more revision later. Signing off.

01/13/2004: Went out with Asim, Hayley, Andy, Mark, Fiona and Sian. Had a really fun time at Wetherspoon's and I must mention that I resisted the urge to drink too much-- part of my part of staying fit and healthy and saving money for this term. The highlight of the night was watching Friends at Asim's room afterwards. I missed Friends so much!!!

And THANK YOU, Qiong, Limin and Charlotte for leaving notes on the tag board. They made me feel so appreciated. And Limin, can you be my art advisor? I've got really interested in art recently but I don't really know where to start. You think you can recommend some books for me to read? I'm especially enarmoured with modern stuff such as cubism and abstract art.

01/10/2004: Had the first party of the term. It was really nice to everyone back at college. Asim brought me Friends DVDs! Three cheers for Asim! Added a counter to the page to give myself a morale booster.

01/10/2004: My friend Xiao Lei sent something explosively hilarious. Check it out at www.flowgo.com.

01/09/2004: Nearly mid-night. I'm getting desperate. This layout is absolutely addictive. I've got to give it a break and do some revision for the tests next Wed. God bless me!

01/09/2004:Zhong Lei spent his whole day doing the new layout of his website when he could have spent the time on revising Physics.
