PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
> Senior Analyst/Programmer
> Southco Distributing Company, Goldsboro, NC
> November 19, 2001 - Present
Hired to help with the analysis and conversion of their ERP/CRM systems as a
result of their current software vendor being purchased by Integrated
Distribution Solutions, Inc. The
initial phase of the conversion involved working closely with Managers and
end users developing “conversion programs” to move required data into the new
systems. The second phase involved designing
and developing custom applications to provide information to the Companies
customers that were not available from the base package. The third phase of the conversion involved the
implementation of hand held and mobile RF terminals for real time inventory
management and tracking, and finally the installation of an IBM Netfinity
Server to allow mining of a DB2/400 database that will enable customers, via
the internet, to place orders on line, inquire on order status, and check
inventory balances.
> Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer
> Hampton Industries, Inc., Kinston, NC
> June 1998 – October 31, 2001
One of several Business Analysts responsible for the implementation of new
legacy, enterprise and warehouse systems on multiple iSeries servers, Novell
and Windows/NT networks. The new
systems were implemented to replace the entire corporate Information Systems
infrastructure that was running on an Amdahl mainframe. I worked very closely
with end users and Managers to determine specific business requirements and
then worked with application developers to modify existing systems and create
new systems to meet those needs.
Specifically, I worked with the Payroll Department to create
procedures that made the Department completely independent of the Information
Systems Department. This required modifications to the purchased payroll
systems and new “add on” applications. Also, I worked with warehouse personnel
(Managers, Supervisors, and shop floor) to design and develop the interface
for a distribution center scale system (using ILE RPG, RPG IV and data
queues) to a purchased inventory management system (PkMS). I was also involved in the analysis and
implementation and configuration of their Accounts Payable and General Ledger
Systems. All legacy systems (Order
Entry/Accounts Receivable, Payables, Payroll and General Leger) were
purchased from different software vendors and ran on multiple AS/400 servers
which necessitated the need for bridge applications to interface the
systems. I worked with Managers from
these departments to help design and development certain interfaces for these
applications.
> I.S. Manager/Systems Analyst/Programmer
> Goldtex, Inc., Goldsboro,
NC
> September 1987 – April 1998
Responsible for maintaining an IBM Ststem/36 and IBM AS/400 model E35 with
sixty locally attached devices, two on-line remote sites, and five PC based
manufacturing process control systems. Developed, implemented and maintained
many AS/400 software packages including: Inventory Management, planning and
scheduling, order entry, invoicing, sales analysis, cost, accounts
receivable/payable, general ledger, payroll, and time and attendance.
Developed most applications in-house using a mixture of RPG III and
RPG/400/IV. Was involved in all
aspects of application development from initial concept through training and
support. Applications developed on an
IBM/System/36 were migrated to the AS/400 and some eventually converted to native
AS/400applications, which in most cases required the re-engineering of the
application. Developed electronic data interchange systems for transmitting
orders, invoices and payroll data to banks and ACH host systems. Supervised
two application programmers and one system operator.
