This wall is located above Summit Lake on Thompson Pass. The lake is visible from the highway as you round a long corner on your way up the pass. The wall is obvious as a block above the lake. The wall can either be approached by walking along the lake shore, to its base or by parking along the highway at the pull out above lake and hiking into to top of the wall and rappelling to is base. The hike rappel is most often the best way to access the climbs.
Routes on this wall have been done for some years, with no record or very little discussion among climbers. Traditionally there was one lead route "Blue Berry Crack" and numerous top rope routes. During the summer of 2001 more activity was seen on the wall and a hand full of fun quality routes have begun to emerge. Paul Tureki, Kirsten Cramer, and Brian Teale have put up a few good route on this wall for more information see Paul's guide book.
The rock is sound and highly featured. It can be sharp but the routes are fun and worth the effort. The top anchors can be tricky to manage, be careful nearing the edge. |
