The pedlar by Jeroen Bosch The pedlar.

Blankers family history

The founder Henricus Blanquaerts subscribes himself thirtyfour-year old as cremer (pedlar) in Maastricht in 1744, he is from Cologne and so he is born around 1710 (the document of his subscription as 'poorter', citizen). Marries Ida Hermans and gets 2 children, then leaves to Amsterdam around 1770. His son lives, probably with him, in 1777 on 'de pijpemarkt' (pipemarket). This is now the NZ Voorburgwal between paleisstraat and St Luciasteeg at the boommarkt. Pipes (gouwenaars) were unloaded and this was the centre of the pipetrade. There were also docks for ships (OA dec 1964).
Now after 2 centuries I live 1500 meter from this place (Amsterdam 1724 with location).7 generations later.
