Victoria Caciopoli Named to Principal
Orchestra of Bridgeport Symphony

By Maricia McLennon

Junior Victoria Caciopoli has been named to the Greater Bridgeport Symphony's prestigious Principal Orchestra.

The Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra consists of three separate orchestras: the String Orchestra, which is the most elementary group, the Concert Orchestra, and the Principal Orchestra, the most advanced group which has the distinction of playing Carnegie Hall. Caciopoli, a violinist, was selected for the Principal Orchestra on the basis of her consistent fine play.

"It wasn't easy getting there. It took some hard work," said Caciopoli.

"She hates to practice like all kids but when she gets into it she goes for hours on end," explained her father, English teacher Mr. Robert Cacciopoli. Mr. Cacciopoli is very proud of his daughter, and who can blame him? Victoria has accomplished a lot in her sixteen years. In addition to her musical talent, she is an honor student, works as an usher for her Church, is involved in theater and is a certified lifeguard despite weighing only 95 lbs!

Victoria received a scholarship to study at Wesleyan's Center for Creative Youth, which she did successfully, receiving strong recommendations from four teachers.

Victoria also went on a Principal Orchestra retreat to Lenox, Massachusetts during the summer. "At first I felt isolated because I was the only one from Bridgeport and I didn't have anyone to talk to. But I soon became acquainted with everyone."
