Sayaphet Writes to Clinton

Dear President Clinton,

Violence is really getting out of hand today in America. My views are that it is dangerous to live in the United States now. To be brief, everyday, wherever I go, I have to be careful. I don't know how or when I'm going to die. It can happen anytime.

I think society really can be safe if we work together. Some states are working together to reduce violence, but as a nation we can't let this problem become worse.

America is the home of the free. From my perspective, this is not true. We are free, but we don't have much freedom to do what we want because of the crime around us. Once in my lifetime, I just want to live in a place where there is no violence and I have the freedom to live without fear of getting shot. I believe it can happen because this is America.

Sincerely,

Adrian Sayaphat
