Meeting Minutes
Ok, they aren't technically "minutes," but they are summaries of all our meetings so far.  I'll update this whenever we have a meeting.
Meeting #1
Number of People:
51
Movie shown:  Saber Marrionette J  (Half first ep. subbed)
Comments:  This meeting was Trial and Error really.  We showed SMJ but we only got about halfway through it.  It was shown on a normal TV set, and most people were unable to see the subtitling.  We were in a normal classroom unsuited for 51 people.  There was a lot of talking going on through out the whole film.  We did our "Words of the Week" but didn't get much responce.  I don't know if we'll be doing that again.  Passed out question papers.
Meeting #2
Number of People:  59
Movie shown:  Saber Marrionette J  (Full ep. subbed)
Comments:  This time, we moved the meeting area into the LGI (Large Group Instruction Room) and everyone seemed much happer there.  There was no problem with overcrowding, and the video was projected onto a large screen, making Subtitle reading much easier.  Since we hadn't finished the entire episode last time, and everyone had had a hard time reading the subtitling, and everyone was talking, we showed the episode again.  Most people enjoyed the movie, some had wanted something a bit more manly.  There was a lot of talking at first, but then people eventually quieted down after the start of the movie.  We passed out Joy's Japanimation coupons as well.  Also, Lain had a tennis match, so I had to take care of everything, kinda like a Trial by Fire.  I think it went well.
Meeting #3
Number of People:  59
Movie Shown:  Cowboy Bebop  (Full ep. dubbed)
Comments:  LGI again, with big screen projector.  Most people liked this video a lot.  #1 anime of 1998 for a reason.  A lot of people liked the fact that it was dubbed.  Sorry people, we're only gonna show dubs if we don't have access to a sub.  Again, a lot of talking at the beginning, but they quieted down once we started the movie.  People liked the blood and guns part a lot, mostly guys.  A girl friend of mine didn't like that.  In one scene, full of emotion, everyone was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop.  Obviously they were paying attention.  Lain and I were like "Success!"  Passed out more Joy's coupons.
Meeting #4
Number of People:  54
Movie Shown:  Slayers  (Full ep. subbed)
Comments:
Everyone seemed to really enjoy Slayers, we had the biggest response yet to our Movie's-Over-Gotta-Ask-How-It-Went question.  Everyone was laughing at the funny moments, which told Lain and I that they were paying attention, which made us feel better!  I got a little bitchy with some talking people, but I was really rude and I'm gonna try to be nicer from now on.  We got pictures taken for the Yearbook and Lain brought in Miyazawa-Chan and Arima-Kun (our mascots), we put them on our heads and posed!  We passed out the papers with this web address on them, and judging by the web counter, we got a lot of hits!  A lot of heads were in the way of the screen, although we've figured out a way to stop that from happening for next time, hopefully.
Meeting #5
Number of People: 55
Movie Shown:  Gunsmith Cats  (Half ep. subbed)
Comments:
Lain and I got out early from 8th period to rope off seating areas so large heads would no longer be in the way of the viewers.  Some people still couldn't see, but they're gonna hafta cope cuz we can't do any better.  People seemed to like GSC when stuff was happening, but the first episode has a lot of talking, so people weren't very responsive.  About midway, right before the COOLEST scene in the whole tape, the Photo people came in wanting to take a picture.  So we had to stop the tape and let them pose everyone.  Then the bell rang so they didn't even TAKE the damn picture!  Passed out a page from Bakuretsu Hunters that Lain copied.  We aren't sure whether we should show the rest of GSC or not...AAAH!  Couldn't find VOLUME button on projector!  The tape was really quiet!  Grrrr...We'll have that fixed for next time.
Meeting #6
Number of People: 46
Movie Shown:  Dragon Half  (Almost full ep. subbed)
Comments:
Dragon Half is a very funny anime, so we got a lot of positive comments there.  We passed out a FRAC Poll asking Q's about the club and the people, and we passed out a Shadow Lady copy.  Most people turned the Shadow Lady paper into an airplane and threw them during the movie.  Oh if only beatings in school were legal...I collected the FRAC polls and Lain and I cleaned up the Shadow Lady mess.  Oh, and we started out with no projector.  Lain ran down the hallways looking for it, finally finding one after the bell rings, so we got started about 15 minutes late with the movie cuz we had to set it up.  Talked with a few people afterwards, they liked DH a lot.  Yeah!  They made a couple requests, and we talked anime.  These people care.  <sniff>
Meeting #7
Number of People:  43
Movie Shown:  Magic Knight Rayearth  (Full ep. subbed)
Comments:
Rayearth was a requested anime, so we complied and showed it.  We got a lot of new people in, but a lot of old people weren't there, so I guess it balanced out.  The tape went well, I personally enjoy the Rayearth anime, but I think the animation is a little sloppy, and I think everyone noticed that and it bored them.  There wasn't nearly as much talking as other times, but still people not even FACING the screen...I wish I was able to kick some people out...I'm too shy though!
Meeting #8
Number of People:  44
Movie Shown:  Serial Experiments Lain  (Half first ep.  Half second ep. subbed)
Comments:
Well, we had planned on showing Vampire Princess Miyu, but after I viewed the dub, I decided that it SUCKED so we opted for Lain's copy of S.E.L.  Combine the fact that Lain was unprepared to show her tape (she hadn't rewound it), and that the damn projector was missing (we had to go find it), the movie was not only started late, but it was started mid-episode.  Since this is a VERY slow anime, not to mention confusing as hell, I think that a lot of people just gave up on it very quickly  No one knew what was going on, and Lain kept fast forwarding, trying to get to some good parts.  I think this was a low point in our club history.  I'm now planning everything in advance and preparing for it fully.  Don't worry!  We'll do better next time!
Meeting #9
Number of People:  48
Movie Shown:  The Vision of EscaFlowne (Full ep. Subbed)
Comments:
Lain and I weren't in the room for most of the movie, we were out printing papers, which we later passed out.  I didn't seem to feel any negative "vibes" when I came in the room tho, so I think it went ok, and people liked it, I know Escaflowne is MY favorite anime, so....Once again we didn't have the projector at the start, but this time we didn't get it at all!  We had to watch the movie on a cheap tiny crappy TV!!!  Mr. Rhea said he'd be sure to reserve it for next time for SURE.  Anyway, after we passed out the After School Anime sheets that we printed, people seemed to like the idea, so maybe we'll have a nice turnout.  Here's hoping!!!
