Joshua was diagnosed at 9mo. of age with a profound hearing loss in both ears. His diagnoses was devastating to my husband and I, and immediately we began researching. Trying to learn as much information as possible, I became consumed in literature. I quickly learned of an Auditory-Verbal school in Seattle. Within a week, Joshua had begun therapy with an excellent Auditory-Verbal therapist.
Things were moving slow, and we soon found out that Joshua's hearing loss was so profound that his hearing aids & personal FM were of no benefit to him.
We began making trips to Children's Hopsital in Seattle for their Cochlear Implant Program. After flying thru their evaluations, Joshua was implanted at 20mo of age with the Nucleus 24 Contour.
