| I was born Taoist, April 21st 1969 at precisely 7.03 pm. Mum suffered 12 hours of labor pain and I was born reversed. Something strange happened after my birtjh. My parents said that there were tears in my eyes, flowing slowly and non-stop. For 3 months no doctors could detect what was wrong. The old folk believe during the laboring; dad was at home hammering the wall to make the cradle for me; it was said to be a curse! Some might not believe but many such incidents truly happened that I found out while I was much older. It is said that don't hammer, sew, paint or dye anythings when near baby due date or immediately after birth. So how? Well, my mother's mother, my beloved late granny, suggested a ritual ceremony. Items for the ceremony were simply 3 cups of rice water, each cup of the water must be obtained from different neighbores. About an hour before noon, I was placed in front of the symbols of the family's God is placed before the cauldron, burning joss sticks and preparing for recite. By twelve noon, dad burned the second round of joss sticks and circled each cup of rice water around my soul. I recovered 3 hours after the ritualism! it was tedious and dramatic born. The ceremony was simple, superstitious and magical, it had no evil, it healed my eyes and whatever the case, there was a glory in my eyes of the childhood place. |
