NAVAL ORDNANCE TEST UNIT TO HOST NATO'S STANDING NAVAL FORCE ATLANTIC March 8, 2001 DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY MEDIA ADVISORY PORT CANAVERAL, FL - Naval Ordnance test Unit will host NATO's Standing Naval Force Atlantic. This force is the world's first peacetime multinational Naval Force. Up to eight ships (destroyers, frigates, and tankers) are normally attached to the force for up to six months, and Force command rotates on an annual basis among the nations contributing ships (see below). The ships will arrive Friday, 9 March starting at 0800 at the Navy Port, Port Canaveral, Florida. A press conference is scheduled for 1000 - 1015 on Friday on the flagship Tortuga. Tours will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, 10 - 11 March from 1330 - 1600 hours. ...
