BAND PROGRAM

______________________________________________________________________________________

Beginning Band

Students have the opportunity to participate in Band starting in the fifth grade.

There are no fees to join band. All a student needs is an instrument and the desire to learn. The Beginning Band Program School is the program for students who have never played an instrument or are just getting started. Students going into beginning band do not need to know what instrument they want to play or have any previous musical knowledge

Method books and sheet music are provided without cost. Clarinet and Saxophone reeds are available for purchase at school for $1.00.

Students can learn to play the

Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Snare Drum or Bells.

During the first two or three weeks of school, the different instruments will be demonstrated to the fifth-grade class.

Students will get a chance to handle the instruments and try to make a sound on them.

After the demonstration period and when the students have made the decision to join, they are expected to stay in the class for the entire year.

Students can obtain an instrument through a rent-to-own program, borrow an instrument, or if an instrument cannot be obtained; contact the director to explore other available options.
