| DREAMS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If I could have my dreamhouse,it would be a big,white,two-story house,with a wrap around porch. it would have a porchswing and red 'flower' hanging 'baskets'. I am from the South ,you know. I would have to have white wicker furniture on it.There would be huge shadetrees in the front yard,for picnics with the children.I could throw a quilt down under one and open up my picnic 'basket' of chicken,potatosalad,biscuits,and chocolate cake.My grandmother used to have peanutbutter on ritz crackers and pepsi with us.We had the best time.I think of her everytime I have that.In the evening,I could watch the children catch lightning bugs and we could have homemade icecream.Don't you love homemade peach icecream?I'll sit in my white rocker and drink pink lemonade while I'm reading my favorite book,Trixie Belden.I will have a 'flower' and 'herb garden' so I can have freshcut 'flowers' in the house and dried herbs hanging up in the kitchen. |

| There will be English ivy and wisteria everywhere.I can just imagine the aroma of the 'flowers',bushes and herbs in the country air.There has to be birdhouses and birdbaths all over.When the evening is done,after the children's bathes and prayers,I could have a candlelit bubblebath,put on my granny nightgown and bunny slippers.I'll pull down my quilt on my huge canopycovered bed.My grandmother still has her cedar bed of her mother's and all of our clothes smelled like cedar from our cedar ward- robe.I would read a book with my white twinklelights on and listen to the melody of crickets and frogs serenading us in the nightair. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I live in the heart of where our great forefathers were born,lived and fought for the freedom we have today.I have been to thier homes and birthplaces.They had magnificent gardens.The ivy, bushes and 'flowers' give the whole place the most beautiful aroma,where they have been growing for so many years.It is so unbelievable to be in 'George Washington' or Thomas Jefferson's homes or even the pub where they would meet to talk with others on the events before the Revolution. Even though the rivers were not the same as they are now you could just imagine the ships coming into port to deliver the supplies to the colonists.The tours of their homes are wonderful.In some of the kitchens you can see the huge fireplaces where they cooked thier meals and all the dried herbs hanging up from thier gardens and beautiful copper kitchenware.You can sit down and have tea and eat gingerbread in some also.In one colonial house this lady we had met owned ,she took us to see it,she wanted to restore it and live there.It was unbelievably huge,there was even a ballroom.In one of the bedrooms that had a ceiling about twice the height of ours,she told us the story of the gitl whose 'room' this was.The 'room' at one time had to be the most beautiful you could imagine. The wallpaper was wall to wall roses.The girl was the daughter of the plantation owner and she had a secret 'boyfriend' whom her father disapproved of,because the family of the man was not wealthy.Her father forbid the marriage,so the daughter, since she was old enough to wed, stole away in the night with her husband and it is said she lived quite happily with him for the rest of her days. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Last Christmas,my older daughter ,bought my youngest a tea set.I planned a teaparty for the three of us.I sent them invitations and we got out prom dresses she played with as a 'little girl'.I had purchased them at various consignment shops,you can find the most beautiful dresses for very little.My little one does not like tea to my dismay so she had hot cocoa.We gathered the teaset,tablecloth,cookies and had the best time laughing and spending time together.The youngest was the teapourer,got it all over the place,but had the best time doing it.It's amazing how just doing something so simple can give lasting memories.We took pictures,and I'm planning another one now for the friends to be there this time. | ![]() |
