"Getting Around Hawaii"
Most visitors to the Hawaiian Islands explore the state's glorious sights by car or another mode of ground transportation. Drivers will find Hawai'i's roads fairly easy to navigate despite street signs sporting a range of Hawaiian words and phrases.
Except for certain times of the year in specific spots (such as the Big Island in October during the Ironman Triathlon, and the same island in April during the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival), ground transportation is plentiful. Visitors reluctant to move much farther than their favorite beach except for the occasional shopping and sightseeing excursion will also discover particularly on O'ahu a solid choice of public transit, including bus and trolley systems, taxi service and more.
