"Storm Tracking"
During Hawai'i's storm season (June through September) an average of four or five tropical cyclones (hurricanes) are generated in the Central Pacific, but few come close to the Islands and only three have made landfall in the past 50 years. Much of the hurricane season in the Islands is spent enduring remnants of weakened storms, but it doesn't hurt to have as much foresight as possible. There are a lot of families that lose their houses during a storm. It is not rare for this island to have a storm and the people living in this island are well aware of it.Official information issued by tropical cyclone warning centers describing all tropical cyclone watches and warnings in effect along with details concerning tropical cyclone locations, intensity and movement, and precautions that should be taken. Advisories are also issued to describe: (a) tropical cyclones prior to issuance of watches and warnings and (b) subtropical cyclones.
