"Hawaiian Style Spareribs"

Ingredients

5lb. Spareribs
1c. Shoyu,
2/3c. Catsup
1/2c. Brown Sugar
1small pc. Ginger root cut
2 Garlic Cloves

Directions

  1. Cut spareribs into serving pieces. Place them in large sauce pot; add water to cover.
  2. Cover with lid and simmer for 30 minutes; drain and cool.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over spareribs.
  4. Let stand in refrigerator for at least 2 hours (longer the better), turn them during the commercials.
  5. Place spareribs on rac of broiler pan and broil about 6" from heat. If using a webber grill, you want the fire "hot" (hold hand 8" above heat and when you can't keep it there for more than 8 seconds, the fire is ready.)
  6. Heat the ribs real good. Keep basting them with the marinade so they don't dry out. A little "black" is o.k. but they better not get "dry"!
  7. REMEMBER most of the cooking was done in the water, you are only glazing them and putting on a show for your friends.
