National Criminal Justice Reference Service

This searches the NCJRS web site and the web sites of the agencies of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs* and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Mid-South Sociological Association

If you are planning to major in Sociology and are going to attend a university in this area, you should think about joining this organization.

Southern Sociology Society

This is another regional association that Sociology majors should consider. Also, there is a link on their homepage to the online portion of the Social Forces journal. The information you find here may be of help when writing papers.

American Sociological Association

You can get good information about what Sociology is and what is going on in the discipline. From the "Student" section, you can also follow a link to find out the names of famous people who majored in Sociology!

The Society for the Study of Social Problems

If you are interested in Social Problems, this site will give you information about what is going on at the national level.

LIBRARY RESOURCES

Alabama Virtual Library

This site will take you to the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) home page. If you are on campus or at a public library, follow the "Campus and Library" link; if you are anywhere else, you should follow the "Home Access" link. In order to use the "Home Access" link, you will need a User ID and password.

To get an ID and password, you will need to go either to your local branch of the public library or the Campus Library and obtain an AVL card. The AVL card is free. You will not be able to access AVL from off campus without the ID and password that comes on your AVL card. If you would like to obtain an AVL card from the Campus Library, please see Ms. McMillian in the Main Campus Library.
