OUR PURPOSE While the all of the industrialized nations of the world have voted to carry out the sensible forms of pollution control created by the Kyoto Protocol, Bush has not. Thus, we have been put in the position of being the world's biggest polluter and the only industrialized nation that has refused to work with the world's citizens to rid our planet of the economic and health blight of pollution. All, according to Bush, to protect U.S. business, meaning his corporate friends and campaign contributers. Bush, however, is not running this country. We call ourselves the Go Kyoto Group. We're just concerned citizens with no affiliations to anyone. If you'll join us, we can carry out the modest objectives of the Kyoto Accord without Bush's help, just like the citizens of Seattle have done. WHAT YOU CAN DO First, send a copy of the Seattle story to your relevant state and local officials involved in energy production and environmental control, along with a request that they do what the folks in Seattle are doing: cut carbon dioxide emissions by 7 percent from 1990 levels. You might want to tell them that this can be done through conservation and other pro-active methods, meeting rising local electricity demand without spewing more greenhouse gases over the next decade, and offseting their entire emission load by planting trees, reducing road traffic and recycling industrial waste and heat. The mitigation would create an ultimate savings in energy costs. Below, you will find an e-mail address for your relevant city and state officials. If your city or state are blank, please obtain the relevant names and e-mail addresses and send them to us here so that we can provide that needed info to future readers. Second, if you'd rather not visit this site on a regular basis, you may sign up for our free, private e-mail service here so that we can keep you abreast of breaking news and volunteer activities. Third, spread the word. Contact your friends and post letters on web sites, in chat rooms, and in newspapers, letting folks know that they can join us in taking back our nation from polluting politicians like Bush. THE CONTACT LIST Please obtain the relevant names and e-mail addresses of your local and state officials involved in energy production and environmental control and send them to us here so that we can provide that needed info to future readers. Thank you.
