Summary: He'll always have a reminder.
Shed always told him that, when she was younger, she had never liked getting teddy bears from the guys she dated. She would grow attached to it, then something would happen between her and the guy and they would break up, leaving her with a stuffed animal that would bring back memories shed rather forget.
So what did he do? He bought her a teddy bear -- built it himself, at a Build-a-Bear workshop. It was a testament that nothing would go wrong...he had no intention of making that bear something shed want to forget, something that would go in a closet and be forgotten, or worse yet, something that would be easily given away.
The bear was placed on the table by her bed. It stayed there, until she died. And then he was left with just the bear, now on his bedside table, and memories of what they shared in their short time together. Although it was painful to think of them now, he knew in time it would be different, that he would be able to look at that bear, hold it close (it still smelled like her) and think of all the good things theyd had.
