In
memory of Cnedra. Fair well lovely Lady.
It was almost Spring, she knew it.
The robins that carpeted her lawn
That day had said it,
The sparrows and the wrens had piped it.
The earth, warm upon her barefeet,
Just yesterday, had sung for it
..
And yet. today, since noon, she'd sat
And watched in quiet contemplation
As the skies had draped the fields in
Downy crystal blankets of silent
Insistence, that Winter, like an
Ardent lover, was not yet willing to
Depart.
..
Now, in the solitude of the night,
The dance of the white fairies
Fills her windows,
Blankets her heart and
Whispers, "not yet..."
..
In peace, she accepts the beauty of this
Last gasp, and smiling, returns the
Whisper......."Soon."
