NPC Friends and Family:
Midori Cho /46/ \Mother\ Midori is Chieko's mother on Asaiah. She is a smaller woman, being only 4' 11", and very very soft-spoken. She lives on the outskirts of Maile, where she moved to after the incident happened, and resides in a small house. She is a very tradition oriented woman, and generally keeps to herself.
Masaichi Cho /deceased/ \Father\ Masaichi Cho was Chieko's link to the past. He was a laywer and came from a small village on an island country in the West. He spent his entire life dedicated to his quest to retain the traditions of his family, but continuously failed in every effort. Towards the end of his life, he became very ill and halucinated about the past. He died when Chieko was 15 in a car accident.
Yaeko Cho /26/ \Sister\ Yaeko is the eldest of the Cho family. She was disowned when she was 24 for reasons explained in the history. Although she hasn't seen or heard from her parents in 8 years, she hasn't thought of them at all, and prefers her new life to the one she left behind.
Appearance: Chieko is the traditional beauty, with a modest and reserved look. She is around 5' 2" with an athletic, but average build. In the last 5 years, she has been transformed from the skinny young girl she was to the now fit and muscular adult. Chieko has lightly coloured skin, slightly tan, but not dark at all. It is very pure, with no blemishes, but her face tends to turns red when she gets angry or upset. She has small hands and feet, and does nothing to decorate her nails or body. The only mark is her family's creed written on both fore-arms permanantly.
She also has long, thick jet black hair. It has a sheen to it, and is pancake flat. It reaches the small of her back and is not layered at all with a straight cut. She has slightly larger almond shaped eyes, which are framed by dark, flat lashes. She has dark brown, almost black, eyes, which have an even darker rim circling them. She has a medium nose, which doesn't curve or dip at all. Her lips are slightly thin, and always in a tight-lipped indifferent expression. She rarely changes her facial expressions, unless she is angry.
As for clothing, Chieko goes completely traditional. She wears various colours of Kimonos, made with a lightweight fabric, and always with an intricate pattern. She wears many layers, like a traditional outfit, and it is decorated with a Kaiken, or small sword which looks like more of a brooch with tassles. Along with this outfit, she always carries a kasa, with her, which is a decieving weapon. She also carries her sword and a fan with her family symbol, as it is tradition in her family.
Personality:
Chieko is all about moderation and stability on the outside. To most people she is a rock, unmoving even when she wants something. She never budges on morals or the way she wants to do things (unless its Moreno, of course. And even then she wants to do things her way...). As stated before, she rarely shows any outside emotion, especially when she is sad or disappointed. They only way one might tell her emotions is through her eyes, which only her closest friends can read. And close friends are very rare to her. She is not a very approachable person, and despite her short stature, she is very intimidating. She puts up an icy front to anyone who tries to get near her, and doesn't hesitate to cut off relationships if she doesn't like them.
On the insides, however, Chieko is much different. She is a pool of emotion, mixed all around. Most of the time, she doesn't react to it, because she can't figure it out at all. Most of the time, she mistakes other emotions for anger, including sadness, betrayal, and jealousy. The one thing that coresponds to the outside is her coldness towards others. She is very self-involved, and rarely things about what others think about her. She is ruthless when it comes to others, including with thier lives.
Chieko's goal in life is to help Moreno so she can have say in how Asaiah is rebuilt. She wants to bring the entire planet back to its roots and make it a warrior society again.
History:
Chieko's life hasn't been a pleasant one. Her family is a family of Tradition, a belief system that withholds the ancient ways of life while mixing it with the new. Since technology began to develope quickly in the 1400's, the Tradition families have kept these ways alive, including the art of the sword and the farming traditions. Chieko's father, a 15th generation Traditionalist, withheld his families traditions, only leaving to go to school for law. That was his contribution to thier cause. Soon after he graduated, he met his wife, a fellow Traditionalist. They were soon married, and soon after had thier first child, Yaeko.
For nine years, the family longed for a boy to carry on the family and finally Midori became pregnant. But instead of the boy they expected, nine months later they found a girl in thier arms. Devestated, but not discouraged, they took thier lot with grace. And Chieko was raised as a boy. Since she was five, she learned the traditions of sword art and schooling, becoming an accomplished swordsperson and master of the weapon arts. However, the girl would never be able to rise in the coucil of the Traditionalists. A girl could not rule the ancient ways like a true man. Chieko didn't care, however, she knew she would become better than all of them.
When she was 15 years old, her father passed away in a freak accident. He was driving across the bridge into Maile, a pedestrian crossed from the sidewalk, and Masaichi's car was driven off the bridge into the water below. The incident made the family tremble, as they knew it was not an accident, but an attack from the government against the Traditionalists. Her father had been on his way to a rally to form a new country of only traditionalists in the northwest corner of the country, and although the movement was just gaining some momentum, it was a threat to the power. At the same time, Chieko's sister refused to accept the Traditionalist ways. She was exiled from that society and went to live in the Sinclair district. The family had lost two members in a matter of months. All that was left was Chieko and her mother. Chieko became increasingly angry at the situation and one day while at the dojo where she practiced, a burst of emotion created an earthquake which split the Earth in two.
Knowing what was happening, and knowing what the girl possesed, Moreno sent a servant, and kidnapped her, taking her back to Fernes. Now with her reasons to want to change society and kill off those who killed her father, she is a volcano waiting to explode. She follows his everyword, only hoping that she will have a say in how they run Asaiah went it is conquered.
