Here's how to subtract fractions

Step 1: Find the lcd

Step 2: If you can't subtract yet borrow one whole

Step 3: Add it in as one whole

Step 4: Subtract!!!!

Step 5: If able to reduce to simplest form

14 5/10-9 3/10=5 2/10=5 1/5

7/8-3/8=4/8=1/2

Step 1: Find a common denominator by making equivalent fractions

Step 2: Add normally!!!!!

19 3/8+9 6/8=29 1/8

16/21+17/21=33/21=1 12/33=1 4/11 and there's your answer

Multiplying Fractions


Here's how to multiply fractions

Step 1: If you have any mixed numbers change them to improper fractions

Step 2: See if you can cross cancel

Cross canceling is when take one numerator and the denominator of the other fraction and reduce them like a fraction

Step 3: Multiply numerator to numerator and denominator to denominator

Step 4: Reduce fraction to simplest form. If a fraction is improper make it proper

8 2/5x1 3/7=6/1x2/1=42/5x10/7=12/1=12

6/7x14/3=2/1x2/1=4/1=4 and there is your answer

Dividing Fractions


Here's how to divide fractions
Step 1:If you have mixed numbers change them to improper fractions

Step 2: Keep the fraction that's being divided the same and change the division sign to a multiplication sign

Step 3: Make the fraction farthest to the right of its reciprocal

Step 4: Find out if you can cross cancel

Step 5: Multiply numerator to numerator and denominator to denominator

Step 6: If your able to reduce,reduce!

5/6 / 10/12=5/6 x 12/10=1/1 x 2/2=2/2=2 there is your answer

3 8/9 / 3 4/6=35/9 / 25/6=35/9 x 6/25=7/3 x 2/5=14/15 and there is your answer

159x4=636 636/1x7/10=445 1/5is your answer

Dividing Fractions-George made $10,000 dollars. Due to an error he had to give back 1/3. How much cash did he have left?

10,000/1x1/3=3,333 1/3 10,000-3,333 1/3=6,666 2/3 is your answer

Adding Fractions-Joe wanted to donate $17.75 to the church every Sunday. If there are 4 weeks in a year how much cash did he donate to the church in one month?

17 3/4 +17 3/4+17 3/4+17 3/4=$71 is your answer
