Kayla sat on her bed in the middle of a million suitcases, clothes and various other things. Tomorrow morning, her and Chel were supposed to be at the airport no later than 7am. There, they were boarding a plane that would take them to New York, which is where the first show of the Backstreet Boys summer tour was. The buses would be there waiting for them. Altogether, there were seven buses: one for the Boys, of course; The band had their own bus as did the opening act. There were also three crew buses. The last bus was for the backstreet Boys dancers. It had been decided that Chel would also ride that bus.
The phone rang next to Kayla and she picked it up. "House of Insanity, how can i direct your call?" The person on the other end laughed. "Kayla, you arent really going insane, are you?" "AJ, Its the night before the biggest thing that has ever happened to me, Im nowhere near being done packing and im nervous as shit." She paused, "Of course Im NOT going insane."
It had been over a week since the incident at the club. Kayla had been trying to forget that night AJ had called her as soon as he got home. She explained to him what she thought happened. She also told him how much it had hurt her, thinking he was going to kiss someone else. The night AJ got back, Kayla had gone to his house and he made her dinner. After dinner, they spent the majority of the night just talking about everything.
That was also the night that she was finally able to tell him how she felt about him. Sitting next to him on the couch, she had expressed to him how she was pretty sure she loved him. She was only slightly surprised when he also told her that he loved her. The night ended with AJ bringing her home and a shared kiss at the door of her apartment.
"KAYLA!!!! EARTH TO KAYLA!!!! HELLO!!!!" Kayla laughed when she realized that she had been completely lost in thought. "Oh, AJ honey, can you forgive me?" She asked him with mock sweetness. He paused for a second, as if thinking, "Hm, gee...I dont know...." She laughed. "Alexander James McClean, Dont give me that gee i dont know crap!!" "Uh oh, you used my full name. I mustve been bad, does that mean i need punishment?" "AJ, your terrible!!! And i really hate to do this, but if you want me to be spending the next three months with you, then i have to get off the phone to finish packing." She could almost see his face falling. "Alright, I guess you can go. I'm still picking you guys up in the morning right?" "Yeah baby, but let me warn you, I am not a morning person. Please dont expect my usual perky self." She heard him laugh, then say, "You? Perky? You were never perky. Maybe you were a bit......." She cut him off, "AJ!!!!" "Alright, alright, Im gonna let you pack. Love you babe!" "Love you too, see you in the morning." "Night!" was the last thing he said, and Kayla heard the phone click on the other end. Kayla looked around her room, sighed and lost herself in the large task of packing.
About an hour later, Kayla realized that she was pretty much done. She looked at the clock and saw it was nearly midnight. Shit, she muttered, Ive got to be up in about five and a half hours. she heard the front door open, then close and knew it was Chel. She had finished her packing that morning and had gone out with Nick.
Kayla walked into the living room and flopped down next to Chel on the couch. "You and Nick have fun?" She asked. Chel nodded, then yawned. Kayla laughed then echoed the yawn. "Yeah, im beat too. I finally finished packing." She turned to face Chel. "Do you realize what is about to happen? Our lives arent going to be the same. Look around, we arent going to see this little room for over three months. This is crazy." As nervous as she was, she was very excited for the tour to start. Again, she looked over at Chel and saw that tears had formed in her eyes. "Oh, hun, whats wrong?" Chel shook her head, "Im just happy. I still cant believe im going with you." Kayla leaned over and gave her a hug. "Its gonna be awesome. Come on, lets go get some sleep. Tomorrows a big day!" With that, they got up and went into their rooms.
Kayla heard her alarm going off and tried her best to ignore it. Just five more minutes, she thought. "Rise and Shine, Kay!!" Kayla groaned and couldnt believe that her friend could be so wide awake this early in the morning. She pulled down her covers and saw that it was still dark outside. "Chel, do I have to get up?" She whined to her friend, knowing full well that she had to get up. She threw off her covers and jumped out of the bed. "Ok, Im up." She sat back down on the bed and went to lay back down. "Kayla, come on. AJ is gonna be here in about a half an hour. We all know you have to look beautiful for him." Kayla threw a pillow at Chel and got back up. "Very funny." She said as she walked into the bathroom.
Once in the bathroom, she let herself take a long hot shower, and just tried to enjoy her last few minutes in the apartment. She finished her shower and got dressed, throwing on a short top and pair of cutoffs. Oh yeah Im glam today, she thought. She walked back into her bedroom, looking for last minute things she may have forgotten the night before. Her eyes rested on her bed, where she spotted the little yellow puppy that AJ had given her. She quickly grabbed it and threw it into her carry on bag. "Kayla!! AJs here!! Hurry up!!" She heard Chel yell to her. "Yes mother!" She yelled back. Giving her room one more glance, she walked into the living room.
She walked over to AJ and gave him a hug. "Morning babe." he greeted her, then said, "Ive got your stuff already packed up. All we gotta do is get you guys to the airport, and...We're off!!" Kayla walked over to the window and looked outside. This is the last time for a while Im gonna be here, she thought. She pushed any sad thoughts out of her head and walked towards the door. "Im ready!" She said. She walked out into the hall way, feeling AJs arm around her waist. She knew that Chel had to drop off the key to their landlord, so she walked with Aj to his truck.
At the airport, the three of them found out that they were the last ones there. The plane was all ready to go. As they boarded the plane, Kayla walked with Chel. AJ had a small amount of business to take care of before boarding the plane. The other guys had already gotten done with that and were already on the plane. Kayla was slightly nervous, having never flown before. Guess i need to get used to it, she thought. She grabbed Chel's hand and looked at her. "This is so exciting!!"
Chel had been thinking the same thing. Once they were on the plane, Chel spotted Nick and both her and Kayla sat down. Chel noticed that Nick seemed uneasy. "Nick, Whats wrong?", she asked him. He looked at her and said, "I hate flying, you just never get used to it. Im a scaredy cat." "Make that two of us." Chel heard Kayla say. She laughed as AJ snuck up behind Kayla and she jumped a mile
"You ass!! You know Im already scared outta my mind." Kayla could not believe he had just done that, but was glad that he was right next to her. He sat down and put his arm around her shoulder. She leaned her head on his arm and closed her eyes. He smells so good, she thought. She smiled, then felt the plane moving beneath her. A wave of nervousness came over her again and she moved closer to AJ. "Baby, you alright?" He asked her, concerned. "Yeah just hold me." She told him and he did.
She must have fallen asleep because the next thing Kayla remembered was AJ nudging her slightly. "Hey, were here." Kayla blinked a couple of times, letting everything come back to her. She remembered that she was on an airplane to New York. She sat up quick and looked at AJ. "OMIGOD! Are we in NY?" He laughed at her and nodded, "Uh huh, and now we have to get off the plane and to the hotel. You ready to run through Fan-Mania?" She looked at him, confused. He pointed for her to look out the window and she couldnt believe what she saw.
There in the airport and all outside the airport, waiting for the Boys, were what seemed to her like millions and millions of people. They were yelling and screaming and holding signs. She looked at AJ. "What is that?" He just smiled at her. "That is why we started this group. Its all for them. But i will tell you one thing right now. As soon as we get out there, they might get brutal. I want you to hold onto my hand and try not to let go. Just keep walking. When you reach the car, get in as quick as you can. And so you know, it'll be the same way at the hotel, just do the same thing ok? You ready? " Kayla nodded and AJ stood up. She followed him and before they stepped off the plane, he gave her a quick hug. "Here we go!!" He said with that killer smile.
She stepped off the plane and was quickly and almost roughly pushed through the crowd. She held tightly to AJs hand but it was getting nearly impossible. It was only about ten or so feet to the car, but it seemed like miles. Kayla couldnt believe that these were all young girls, pushing and shoving. She looked around and saw Nicks blond head in front of her. She watched in horror as one of the girls grabbed onto a piece of his hair and pulled. Even more amazing, was the fact that he did nothing, just kept walking to the car. Kayla was so distracted that she felt herself lose the grip on AJs hand. Panicing slightly, she remembered what he had told her. "Just keep walking!" And thats what she did.
Twenty minutes later, Kayla and Chel were sitting in their hotel room. "I can not believe that just happened." Chel told Kayla. She had been walking right with Nick through the whole thing. The two of them were reliving the experience while the boys took care of some business, press and things like that. When they were in the car, AJ had said, "Now wasnt that fun?" They all looked at him and rolled their eyes. Kayla watched as poor Nick rubbed his head. "Why do they always go straight for the hair?" Kayla told them that she was amazed at how at ease they seemed through the whole thing. Brian looked at her, "Just wait, you will too."
At the moment, Kayla was trying to take everything in. She was in NY. She was a dancer for one of the most popular boy groups in the world. Even more strange was the fact that one of the guys in that group was her boyfriend. She looked at Chel and knew they both had the same thought in their minds. "We are two of the luckiest girls in the world!!!!!!!" They both yelled at the same time. They broke out into a fit of laughter, not noticing the boys walking into their room.
"Theyve gone mad!!" Nick yelled as he moved closer to Chel, then started tickling her. "Oh god, Nick stop!! Dont.....HELP!!!" She looked towards Kayla for help. Kayla started to walk towards her and felt Aj pull her back. "And just where do you think your going?" He gave her an evil look and began to tickle her. Through her laughter, Kayla looked up at him. God, i love him, she thought. And the thought of spending the next three months by his side was the best thought in the world.
