This webpage has been designed to help people all over the world to understand L337speak before it catches mankind off guard and overthrows all known languages. Be aware that even though this may be the first time you h33r about this, the l337 empire has a strong underground foundation.
L337 has been around since the nineties, first used by hackers as a way to make text difficult to read and/or to be found by authorities, but slowly it evolved into it's actual glorious form. L337 is now used by teenagers to annoy, confuse and taunt their online opponents in online games. Games such as Ultima Online or Everquest (known as MMORPGs for Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games) helped speed up this process, while many were busy enjoying their games and roleplaying, some were too busy phattening their skills to PK these pesky roleplayers. Eventually the l337 players managed to overthrow the roleplayers with their phat PK skillz. Now l337 can be found everywhere, not just MMORPGs! |
