• Only family-friendly sites will be considered for our award! Sites that promote, link to, and/or contain pornography, racism, child/animal abuse, violence or any other adult content will be disqualified.
• Sites must present information that is pet-related. Sites that focus on other subjects will be disqualified.
• You must be the webmaster or owner of the site that you submit.
• If your site collects personal information, you must have a privacy policy on your site. Sites collecting personal information that do not have a privacy policy will be disqualified.
• Your site must have a copyright statement or credit given to the creators/authors of the content on your site. Sites with copyright violations will be disqualified.
• If your site does not meet the requirements for our award, you may make changes and re-submit the site for consideration after 10 days. Each site may only be submitted once every 10 days - NO EXCEPTIONS!

All sites submitted will be judged on a points system in the following four areas: design, content, navigation, and coding. Extra points may also be awarded at my discretion.

Design -

• Original design
• Page loads quickly
• Text is easy to read
• Good color scheme that is easy to read
• Layout is both appealing and user-friendly
• Quality, original graphics (free linkware graphics are acceptable as long as credit is given where due)
• Avoids overuse of "pop-ups" (exceptions made for those required on free servers)
• Doesn't require a download in order to properly view the site (i.e. Comet Cursor downloads)
• Design is consistent

Content -

• Family-friendly
• Relates to topic
• Interesting, informative and up-to-date
• Well-written and easily understood
• Provides contact information or feedback form
• Gives visitors a reason to return

Navigation -

• Easy to navigate
• Link back "Home" on every page
• If using graphics to navigate, also include text links for those with images disabled or using text-only browsers
• No "broken" links

Coding -

• Site loads properly without errors
• No broken links
• Images load properly (no red X's where pictures should be)
• Java scripts and applets load without errors
• Frames work properly (one should not get "stuck" in your frames after leaving your site)

• After you submit your site, I will send a confirmation e-mail to you within 3 days. If you do not receive a confirmation after 3 days, I probably did not receive your submission and you may resubmit your site.
• It will take anywhere from 10-14 days for me to review your site. After your site has been reviewed, I will send you an e-mail report detailing the overall performance of your site. I will also include the award graphic (see below) if you qualify for an award.
• Sites are scored on a 100 point scale. Each of the four judging criteria (design, content, navigation, and coding) are worth 25 points. Awards will be given according the the following scores:

  50-70 points	71-80 points
  81-90 points	91-100 points

• Sites receiving a score less than 50 points will not receive an award
• All decisions are final

If you receive an award, you must agree to the following conditions of acceptance:

• You must place the award graphic on your site
• You must either use the graphic to link back to this page or provide a text link to this page on the same page of your site where the award graphic is displayed
• You must not alter the award graphic in any way
• After you've placed the award on your site, you must send a confirmation e-mail with the URL of the page that the award is located on
• After I receive your confirmation e-mail, I will place a link to your site on our Award Recipients page
• If I do not receive a confirmation e-mail from you within 30 days, I will assume that you are no longer interested in our award (and I will be terribly offended if you are!).
