Fall 2006
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Mr. Patalano’s Social Studies class.
This letter will briefly discuss some questions and concerns you might have
entering a new class.
Discipline: Mr. Patalano’s classroom is an
efficient and quiet one. While there are some times that we have “fun” (while
learning), talking/chatting without permission is NOT ALLOWED.
Behavior Expectations: 1.
Be positive and responsible.
2. Be respectful, polite, and encouraging.
3. Bring all
materials to class.
4. Follow directions.
5. Raise your hand for
permission to speak or take action.
Ways of Communication:
1. Website-
http://www.patalano.org/.
2. Email [email protected].

Grading Philosophy
1.
Every student can pass: Work + Effort =
Passing
2. I
have never failed a student who gives 100% everyday.
3. A
student’s grade is a combination of points from notebook, homework, classwork, tests, and projects.
4. If
a student is absent he/she may make up the work for full credit. It is the
student's responsibility to request make up work upon returning to school.
5.
Late work is rarely accepted.
Necessary Supplies:
3-Ring Binder, Notebook, Folder, Pen, Pencil, and a Cover for the
textbook.
Other:
Students may stay after school for
extra help with parent permission.
