Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Hours slip by like days.
And still I am alone.
People all around me.
Yet still I am alone.

Looking through a crowd
Of blank empty faces
Bumping into each other
Pushing me aside.

Caught in the midst of intelligent bodies
I fall over in the dirt
No one notices
Just leaves footprints on my back.

I try to pull myself up
I crawl through the legs
Trying to find a haven, a friendly face.
Trying to regain my dignity.

I long for yesterday
When my future was bright.
I long for the way I looked at the future.
The way life was good.

Looking through a crowd
Of blank empty faces
Bumping into each other
Pushing me aside.
