Childhood Lost

One day you are a child.
Who can do anything
At anytime,
Without having to worry about consequences.

But suddenly you turn around
And something called responsibilty
Is heaped on you.
And you are expected to act like an "adult".

How can you act like an adult
When you don't even know
What the word means?
But real adults never worry about that.

It seems like I've been an adult
For almost 17 years now.
I don't remember childhood feelings
Or childish things.

I miss being a child.
I miss playing make believe,
And escaping to my own little world.
But, I suppose even an adult has a make believe world.

Somewhere.
