| Found myself 1995 JD (see John Deere below) ride finally!! slightly burnt no bonnet as it melted in the fire I prosume (fibreglass + fire = flames!) for $25 + commission $25 to my brother, Who found it for me while visiting a friend. while talking he spyed some thing in the tall grass after taking a closer look it was a 1995 JD and asked how muchdid he want for it,, "take it"...sold...so col gave him a donation of $25 for light entertainment "beer" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The build plan To build a rideon race mower with a 2 stroke IT250cc yamaha engine, ( found out it was a DT250e 1978) lower the axles on the frame by about 50mm, so the frame sits 85mm from the ground front axle to be modified, The frame is to be cut to fix the front axle and weld to the frame leaving the fornt axle width at 900mm ( 36" ) Rear axle will be 1000mm (3'3"). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2/7/2002 update got to and started to attack the flamming deere today cut out the burnt engine tossed it over the left shoulder, Cleaned the rims up and gave em a coat of paint (8" rims) Crome. Set the frame up to get some Idears where thing are going to go ( got to take more photos ) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1/8/02 got new tyres fitted "Scorpion" turf tyres wire brushed frame down of surface rust took front end appart and worked out front end linkages, steering to buy steel and get back axle lathed to size. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/8/02 brought some bearing for the front wheel yesterday shiiiiit now I know why the call them deere $35 a bearing 4 bearing later, tryed non genuine but there not built for speed so had to dig deep for the $$$$$$$$$ the flam'n dear deere. budget so far $530 AUD and I havnt even got the engine in yet. pics comming soon -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8/8/02 cut and welded shasi frame and stregnthen and fitted engine mount. it is light and strong now. sprayed front wheels chrome and took more of photos ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14\8/02 front wheels fiitted cut up metal for front steering. ________________________________________________________________________ 28/8/02 Got rear axle made up and front steering welded in. 3/4 " or 19mm axle rod steel got it home and had to fit it straight awayfirst I welded the rear axle bearing supports on then. pulled what I thought was a IT250cc was actually a DT250 E 1978 model engine. with electronic ignition yahoo. pulled it down and cleaned everything, Carby, Engine and took out the stator to be fixed only to find out the fly wheel keyway needs attention. wraped it up in rags so no dust can get into it and some oil in the carby. What a day I had fitting the rear axle and the front wheels and axles to the mower frame. acheived a lot today. _________________________________________________________________________ 30/9/02 fitted rear wheels and ajusted them to 995mm 5mm to spare and placed it on the ground, out with the tape measure 85mm ground clearance perfect and the front wheels are on a camber next will be seting up the steering to the ackerman pricible for easyer steering. _________________________________________________________________________ 1st september 2002 went to mower race meeting at seymoure "Annual genral meeting" does'nt look good as the insurane is very hard to get and cost big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. and heaps of thing changed at meeting with a few changes to the treasure and vice president. _________________________________________________________________________ 2nd october 2002 so we have insurance! I'd better pull my finger out and finish off this mower still got the steering to setting up. and a few engine parts. Then there is the rear end to setup, just got to get cogs and disc brake and a few cables __________________________________________________________________________ 8th october 2002 got to Steering welded supports and conecting rods those rose joints are great __________________________________________________________________________ 1/8/2003 back to it then, got fuel tank made 3.3 ltr and fitted it. reiforced the steering coloum. bolted engine in. ___________________________________________________________________________ 3/8/2003 welded boss for rear cog to bolt to. and fitted electrics ____________________________________________________________________________ 8/8/2003 drill hole in original exhaust, make exhaust manafold plate and weld exhaust to manafold face plate (single inlet to exhaust twin exhaust outlet) ____________________________________________________________________________ 27/8/2003 brought cogs and chain (520) , drilled boss plate & fitted rear sprocket ____________________________________________________________________________ 30/8/2003 rear axle ajusters welded in place, fit chain, took chain off and fitted mower shell on and cut so chain would go through mower shell next will be fitting chain gard.
