Chapter 1
Like all good things, it was coming to an end. The mission had been a
success and everyone was going home to some well-deserved time off. After
spending over a month on PHT-295 helping the locals rebuild their ruined
settlements after a period of Goa'uld attacks, and fostering trade
relations, SG-1 and SG-3, along with assorted support and medical crew,
had been told to pack up and come home. While everyone was elated at the
amount of work they had accomplished in such a short period of time, and
had made close friends among the locals, there wasn't a single complaint
at the order.
Sam Carter sighed heavily as she crammed the last of her belongings into her pack and prepared to move off to the Stargate. It had been a long and gruelling stint on the planet, with no earth-side break for anyone. She was looking forward to getting back to base for some rest and relaxation. And to catch up on some lost time with Cassie. Of all the things she'd missed during this mission, the greatest had been spending time with the girl and her adopted mother, Janet Fraiser. Since her father had joined the Tok'ra, one of the few things bringing Sam back to her earth-bound life was the times she got to spend off base with Janet and Cassie. They had become her family, and being separated from them for such a long period of time saddened her. Wearily she shouldered her pack and walked out of the camp that was being pulled down around her and headed towards the Stargate.
"Hey Sam, looking forward to getting back to good old Earth and military
food?"
She looked up at the sound of Daniel's voice and smiled.
"Yeah, I've missed the 'food' they feed us in the mess. I'd almost
forgotten what it was like to eat cement mix." She joked in reply. Having
Daniel along on missions could be an interesting experience, but a Godsend
in this occasion. His passion for the culture of these people and their
history made working so hard to save it all worthwhile. His concern for
them was obvious, and it helped everyone to work together. Sam had enjoyed
his company and had spent many nights talking to him by a fire, joking and
reminiscing past missions.
"What are you going to do with your leave?" She asked him.
"Probably catch up on some paperwork that has been collecting on my desk.
SG-9 found some interesting artefacts that appear to be Sumerian and I
wanted to check them out. See if I can get a dating for the people that
were moved there by the Goa'uld. Apart from that, probably nothing. I
might go visit some friends, catch up on some journal reading, that kind
of thing. How about you?"
"I was hoping to catch up with Cassie, maybe take her away for a weekend
or something. Just generally relax."
"I think we've all deserved it." Daniel said, pointing to Colonel O'Neill
and Teal'c fidgeting near the DHD. "Those two look like they were ready to
get out of here yesterday." He added, grinning.
Sam smiled at Daniel before approaching the DHD and punching in their home
co-ordinates. As the shimmering blue light solidified, Sam looked around
her at the progress they had achieved for these people. Satisfied, she
stepped through the Stargate and onto the down ramp at SGC.
Sam flounced into her quarters, dropped her gear onto the floor and flopped onto the bed. No matter how many missions she went on, she kept forgetting that just because they were going home didn't mean it was over. After returning from PHT-295, SG-1 and SG-3 were called into a combined de-briefing before being sent off for a medical check up. While it was standard procedure, Sam still hadn't gotten used to spending half an hour being interrogated and then another half an hour being prodded and probed after being sucked through the Stargate, before being allowed to go and relax. At least this time it had given her an opportunity to ask Janet if Cassie was home this weekend. To Sam's disappointment she'd found out that Cassie was on a field trip with her school this weekend and wouldn't be back home till Monday evening.
Instead she'd arranged that herself, Janet and Cassie take the next weekend off and go for a trip to the mountains. Janet had been thrilled at the idea and had immediately gone off to arrange for someone to take her shifts. Now Sam had to think of a way to spend the next week since her original plans had been put on hold. But first things first - a nice hot, long shower and a clean change of clothes would do wonders for her mood. The facilities on PHT-295, while not inadequate, were far from the civilities of a long, hot shower and clean clothes.
After having showered and removed a month's worth of grime that wasn't easily removed by a bucket of water and a washer, Sam lay down on her bed and tried to relax. She'd been up since 3am Earth time and now was feeling tired, though a lot cleaner than she had been. Without setting an alarm, Sam closed her eyes and attempted to catch up on some much needed sleep.
She woke to the sound of knocking at her door. It took her a moment to
realise where she was, as she groggily got out of bed. She brushed a few
stray strands of hair back into place, gave her face a quick rub and
opened the door.
"Janet, what are you doing here?"
"I just thought I'd drop by and see if you had any plans for tonight? With
Cassie away I was considering staying on base tonight but I remembered
that you were back and might enjoy some company."
"I'd love to Janet. I almost forgot there was a real world out there." Sam
replied, winking.
"Did you have enough sleep?"
"I think so. I was just so beat I couldn't keep my eyes open. I can't
believe how tiring all that work was."
"Tell me about it, but at least we managed to help all those people."
Sam frowned at Janet, "You were on the planet? I didn't know that."
"Oh yes, I was part of the med support team. We had to ascertain their
level of tech and supply them with equipment that was equivalent. I saw
you a few times around the place, but it was so hectic I'm not surprised
you didn't know I was there. Lucky for me I got to come back to Earth at
the end of every day." Janet smiled.
Sam snorted at her comment, then grinned back.
"So where do you suggest we go out to for some R&R Doctor?" Sam teased
"Hrm, well...if you want rest and relaxation we could get pizza and
movies. If you want 'rest and relaxation'," She continued, waggling her
eyebrows, "We could go see if there is a bar around here that DOESN'T have
any airmen in it."
Sam grimaced. "No likely chance of that. Besides, pizza and movies sounds
like a GREAT plan."
"Excellent. Want to stay overnight at my place? Rather than driving all
the way back to base tonight."
Sam thought about that for a few moments. She had never stayed overnight
at Janet's house before, mostly because she didn't want to intrude. There
had been occasions in the past when Sam had gone to visit Cassie, and
Janet had offered for Sam to stay. And she had refused. It was a bad habit
to get into, and once developed she'd probably never break it. The thought
of waking up every morning to see both Cassie and Janet was way too
tempting.
"Actually, I should probably come back here tonight. Even though I'm
officially on leave, I don't see General Hammond or Colonel O'Neill
letting me off that easily. I'm sure they are looking for ways to keep me
around even as we speak." Sam finally replied, grinning.
Janet laughed. She was disappointed that Sam had turned down her offer
once again, and couldn't really understand why, but it was Sam's decision
and she wouldn't push for reasons. Janet really liked spending time with
Sam, and enjoyed the occasions that the two of them got to go out, with or
without Cassie. She mentally shrugged, and put that issue to the back of
her mind.
"Do you want to get changed before we go? Or are you happy to go out like
that? Janet joked, pointing to the USAF Cadet sweats that Sam was wearing.
"No, I'll have a quick shower and put on some civvies." Sam replied,
laughing. "Do you want to come in and wait for me?" Sam offered.
Janet hesitated briefly and then nodded.
She followed Sam into her room, and took a seat on the bed. Sam quickly got all the things she needed for a shower and went into the adjoining bathroom. Janet sighed quietly and took a quick look around her. Sam's room was spartan, like all military provided quarters, yet here and there were little things that made the room look comfy. And reminded Janet of its owner. Above the desk were Sam's degrees, and a small picture of Sam with her father. On the desk was a picture of Janet and Cassie on the last holiday the three had taken together. While Janet wasn't surprised to see it there, it made her smile. Unsurprisingly the room was pedantically neat, and everything seemed to have its proper place to be. Such a typical Sam quality.
At that moment the bathroom door opened and Sam emerged wearing faded jeans and a red t-shirt. It struck Janet that Sam really was quite attractive. Military attire was never complimentary, and seeing Sam in civilian clothes reminded Janet that underneath all the camouflage and weapons was a beautiful woman. She watched as Sam pulled on socks and Colorados before grabbing her leather jacket.
"Ready to go Doc?" Sam asked jokingly.
"You bet!" Janet replied enthusiastically.
The two of them walked out of the room, Sam flicked off the light and
closed the door.
It had taken them close to half an hour to decide what videos they wanted, before they got back to Janet's house and ordered pizza. They chatted until it arrived and then went to the lounge room to eat and watch movies. By half way through the second movie, Sam could feel her eyes closing and sleep taking over. She resisted in vain, and was soon sleeping peacefully.
At the end of the movie, Janet looked over at Sam curled up on the couch sound asleep, the light from the movie credits playing across her face. A well of emotions flooded Janet, emotions she didn't quite know how to deal with. She stopped the movie and turned the television off, then sat watching Sam sleep in the pale moonlight. Janet was amazed at how peaceful and innocent Sam looked while sleeping, her face softened by the pale light. She shook herself out of those thoughts and went to see if the spare room was in a useable state.
To her frustration it wasn't, Cassie's winter clothes laid out in it ready for packing away. Janet knew she couldn't really leave Sam sleeping on the couch, but at the same time didn't want to have to wake her and send her back to the base. Janet grabbed a pillow and blanket and headed back down towards the lounge room. As she passed her bedroom and saw her big Queen bed a thought struck her. She could share her bed with Sam. There was enough room and she was sure that, after having spent a long time sleeping in a single bed, Sam wouldn't take up that much room anyway. Pleased with her idea, Janet dumped the pillow and blanket back in the spare room and went to fetch Sam from the couch.
Janet sat beside the couch for a few minutes watching Sam sleep, not
really wanting to wake her. After a little while she noticed that she was
stroking Sam's hair. Janet took her hand away, and gently shook Sam's
shoulder.
"C'mon Sam, wake up." She said softly
Sam murmured slightly in her sleep and rolled over.
"Wake up Sam, you have to get up off the couch, you can't sleep there."
Sam's eyes opened up and Janet was struck by how perfectly blue they were.
Another rush of emotions swept through her, which she pushed aside again.
"Sorry I fell asleep, I'll drive back." Sam mumbled.
"No you won't. You're staying here. Doctor's orders."
"I didn't bring a change of clothes." Sam protested
"You can borrow something of mine. Come on, sit up."
Sam sat up and swung her legs off the couch. Janet helped her stand and
then walked her up the stairs to her bedroom. At the doorway, Sam
protested when she saw where she was being taken, but Janet quickly
suppressed her with a stern look. She got Sam into her room and seated on
the bed, and then turned to look at her.
"Do you want t-shirt and shorts or just a t-shirt?" She asked Sam
"Just a t-shirt will be fine thanks." Sam replied blearily, already
falling asleep.
Janet quickly found an over-large t-shirt for Sam, and then went to help
her undress. She started to protest again before she saw the look on
Janet's face. She quickly closed her mouth and let Janet help her get out
of her clothes before putting on the t-shirt, which reached most of the
way down her thighs. Janet turned down the sheets and helped Sam into bed,
before tucking the sheets back around her shoulders.
"Now you know where the bathroom is, or you can use my ensuite if you want
to." Janet said, pointing to her bathroom.
Sam nodded and rolled over to curl up on her side.
"Where are you going to sleep Janet?" came the muffled reply.
"In here. We can share the bed, it's big enough. Besides - you're used to
sleeping on a military bed and probably won't move all night." She joked.
Sam smiled, and then yawned.
"Go to sleep you." Janet ordered.
"Yes ma'am."
Janet went into her bathroom to brush her teeth and get ready for bed. By the time she got back, Sam was already asleep again. Janet smiled and picked up Sam's clothes from the floor, folded them and placed them on her dresser. Yawning she got into bed beside Sam, turned off the light and quickly went to sleep.
Chapter 2
Janet woke to a warm feeling of comfort. As she woke up some more, she
realised that Sam was cuddled up to her back, with her arm around her
waist. Janet was startled to find that she liked the feeling of Sam's arm
around her and was loath to move. Normally she hated being crowded by
people, but for some reason the warmth and closeness of Sam's body was
comforting. She debated with herself whether or not to move, when Sam
murmured in her sleep and shifted. She was astonished to hear Sam saying
her name in her sleep. Gently she rolled over, leaving Sam's arm where it
was, so that she was facing her. Janet saw that she had a small smile on
her face, and that whatever she was dreaming about was pleasant.
Just then Sam's eyes opened slowly, and she looked straight at Janet. Sam's smile grew slightly, and she looked to where her arm was and then back at her. She could see the question in Sam's eyes, but didn't know how to answer. Sam was her best friend, and she wasn't sure what to do. Instead she just closed her eyes, and mentally ran away from the situation. She felt Sam slowly move her arm away. Janet silently damned the coward in herself. More and more lately she had found herself looking at Sam in a different way - as more than a best friend.
Janet opened her eyes again and smiled at Sam, who had an uncertain look
on her face.
"Morning Sam." She said simply, still avoiding the situation of earlier.
"Morning Janet." Sam replied, the uncertain looking diminishing slightly.
"Did you sleep well?"
"I crashed didn't I?" Janet nodded "I'm so sorry," Sam continued, "I had
intended to go back to the base. I didn't mean to inconvenience you." She
apologised.
"It was my pleasure" Janet said 'In more ways than one' she silently
thought.
Janet smiled at Sam, and then rolled over and got out of bed. She grabbed
her dressing gown and put it on, before turning around to find Sam
watching her every move. Strangely she didn't feel uncomfortable, but
rather felt a rush of excitement. 'What IS coming over me lately?' she
berated herself.
"Your clothes are over there on the dresser," She said aloud. "I'll be
downstairs. Anything in particular you want for breakfast?"
"Oh no, I'll go back to base. I've put you out enough for one day - and
night."
"Ridiculous. You're here now. Besides, the base doesn't make anything
nutritionally attractive for breakfast anyway. At least let me make you a
cup of coffee."
"Fine, fine." Sam said, half laughing. "Coffee then. We'll argue about
anything else when we get to it."
Janet laughed and headed out of her room. Once down in the kitchen, she set up the percolator to make coffee, and started scrounging in her cupboards for something for breakfast. She jumped as she felt a hand on her shoulder, a turned around quickly to find herself mere centimetres from Sam. Startled, she lost her balance and fell forward - into Sam's arms. They stood there for a while, staring deep into each other's eyes. Janet could see the same questioning look on Sam's face again, yet this time was confused as to what it meant. Gently Sam leant forward a bit, righting them. Janet, however, felt a shiver run through her body as Sam's breathe brushed gently against her face. She closed her eyes once more, this time in anticipation - of what she didn't know. Sam brushed a few strands of hair out of Janet's face.
"Are you alright Janet?"
Janet cleared her throat quickly. "Yes I'm fine, you just startled me is
all."
Sam still had her arms around Janet's waist, her thumbs gently brushing
her sides. Janet smiled to reassure Sam she was fine, despite the
butterflies that were doing a hectic dance in her stomach - and in her
heart - and took a slight step backwards. Sam dropped her arms and went to
inspect the coffee pot.
"I'll be back in a moment Sam, help yourself to coffee - you know where
everything is."
Janet retreated hurriedly from the kitchen into her private study, where she closed the door and flopped into the chair. Her heart was still racing a million miles an hour, and the feeling of excitement at Sam's touch still hadn't gone away. She leant on the arm of the chair and put her head into her hands. 'What is going on?' she thought to herself. It was true that during college she had been in a short relationship with another woman, but that was college and Sam was her best friend - as well as being a fellow USAF Officer. She heard a soft knock on her study door, and then the sound of the door opening. She kept her head in her hands, not trusting herself to look up at Sam.
"Janet," Sam said quietly, "I haven't done something wrong have I?"
The sound of concern in Sam's voice was almost too much for her, as she
tried to stop the tears from escaping. She felt Sam's hands on her
shoulders, and the chair being turned around.
"Look at me please Janet."
She dared to move her hands from her face and look at Sam who was kneeling
in front of her. Sam's blue eyes looked watery, as if Sam herself was on
the verge of tears. Slowly she lifted a hand to brush a tear from Janet's
cheek that had succeeded in escaping. Janet felt herself leaning into
Sam's touch, to which she responded in kind by cupping Janet's cheek. She
closed her eyes and enjoyed the feel of Sam stroking her face. She felt
Sam lean in closer, felt her breath on her face, and then the soft
sensation of Sam's lips on hers. Janet opened herself up to Sam's kiss,
letting her set the pace, but enjoying the silky touch of her lips. A
small cry of disappointment escaped her lips as Sam pulled back. She
opened her eyes and looked at Sam, not knowing what she expected to see.
Sam's face was unreadable as usual, and offered her no clues as to what
had just happened. Sam looked away first, a slightly embarrassed look
flashing briefly across her features.
"I am so sorry Janet. I shouldn't have done that.
Janet put her hand under Sam's chin, pulling her face up to look into her
eyes. Perfect blue orbs shimmering with tears. Even as Janet watched, one
of them escaped and rolled down her face. She reached up with her other
hand and wiped it away, before pulling Sam in close to her and kissing
her. The salty taste of tears mingled with the sweet taste of Sam lips,
and Janet soon lost herself in the waves of emotions pouring over her. She
moved her hand from under Sam's chin to behind her head, playing with the
soft hairs at the nape of her neck. She heard Sam moan softly against her
lips and lean in closer. She parted her lips slightly and Sam's tongue
slipped into her mouth, massaging her own tongue. Janet ran her finger
down the side of Sam's neck, who gasped and pulled back slightly, her eyes
closed and a look of enjoyment on her face. She opened her eyes and stared
deeply into Janet's eyes, and felt emotions rush through her, almost
overwhelming her with their intensity. As if there had been some unspoken
cue, they both stood up and embraced. Janet leant her head on Sam's
shoulder, fitting herself comfortably into the shape of her body, her
forehead touching Sam's neck.
"You have no idea how long I have wanted to do that." Sam whispered into
Janet's hair. "How long I have wondered if you feel the same way for me
that I do for you."
"I don't know how I feel." Janet replied. "Oh, I know WHAT I feel. Most
definitely know that. I also know that I care for you very much. I
just..." She trailed off. "I'm just so...confused."
Sam ran her fingers through Janet's hair.
"How about this - I won't rush you, and you can decide what it is that you
feel and make your decision from there." She replied. "I've waited this
long, I can wait a little while longer."
Janet nodded gently.
"Thank you, I appreciate that." Janet nuzzled back into Sam's neck.
They stood there like that for a while before Janet lifted her head and
looked up into Sam's face. Sam smiled at her and stroked her cheek.
"So what are we going to do for the rest of the day?" Janet asked
"I was going to head back to base and see if anybody had some mathematics
they desperately need done." Sam joked.
"Ugh, sounds boring. Here's a better idea. Spend the day with me. We'll
have breakfast together and then do something."
"Sounds like a fantastic idea. I am supposed to be on leave anyway."
They grinned at each other and headed back to the kitchen. Janet was
pleased with the outcome of the situation, and thought that spending some
more time with Sam would help her ascertain what it was that she felt for
the other woman. Sam on the other hand was just pleased that it had worked
out so well. She'd finally managed to show Janet that she was interested
in a relationship beyond friendship, and now she was getting to spend some
time alone with her. All in all, it had been a productive morning for
both.
Over breakfast it was decided that Sam would stay with Janet for the week that Cassie was away, before the three of them headed off to the mountains for a weekend of fun together. But firstly they had to collect enough gear for Sam from the base and go on a resupply trip, as Janet's pantry was decidedly bare. They finished up quickly, and Sam cleaned up while Janet went and got changed. Sam had decided she would leave her car at Janet's place, rather than the two of them driving everywhere separately.
On the way to the base they chatted about Cassie, work, and various other things. Sam was surprised to find out that Janet was a chief link in the base gossip chain, and knew everything about who was with whom, and what was going on behind the scenes. According to her, there was a substantial rumour mill revolving around who would get together first - Jack O'Neill and Sam, or Janet and Sam. Apparently, the fact that Sam and she were raising Cassie together immediately meant that they had to be romantically involved. In a jesting fashion Janet had neither quashed the rumour, nor encouraged it, but rather pointed out to everyone that she was just a mere CMO whereas Jack O'Neill was a Colonel and in charge of his own Stargate team. That of course had headed all the rumours off in THAT direction.
Sam found the whole thing very amusing. Personally she thought of Jack as a big brother, more of a friend and confidante than a romantic interest. She would have thought that Daniel would be the more likely partner for the rumours. After all - people usually tended to put the brainiacs together. It was no secret that Sam and Daniel were good friends and often spent time off base together, talking about "geek" things and the like.
They finally arrived at the base, and Sam went about packing up a few changes of clothes, a couple of papers she was working on, and some toiletries. She was hoping she could get in and out before either Colonel O'Neill or General Hammond realised that she was back and found some menial task for her to do. While Sam packed up, Janet took a quick trip into the lab to see if there was anything she needed to sign off on or check up. While she was away, Sam took the opportunity to have a quick shower and change her clothes. Just as she was finishing towelling her hair dry she heard a knock at her door and went to answer it, finding O'Neill standing outside her door. She suppressed a sigh.
"Yes Sir?"
"Aah, Carter, glad you're here. General Hammond and I were just talking
together about efficient usage of the MALPs and were wondering if you
could come and have a look at the data we've been given by tech support.
It seems we need your expertise to read something intelligible out of all
those numbers and graphs."
"Well, Sir, I just came back to get a change of clothes. I wasn't
intending on being here for any long period of time."
"Oh, I thought you might have been staying here for your time off. I'm
sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you."
"No problem Sir. Is it possible for you to call one of the tech guys up
and have him explain it all to you?"
"I don't know Carter, those tech guys speak more Swahili to me than even
you and Dr. Fraiser together. I'm not sure General Hammond and I would
understand one of them without you there to translate."
"Could you just try it and see."
"I guess so."
"Thank you Sir. May I go now?"
"Certainly Carter, sorry to have disturbed you."
Sam sighed a breath of relief as she closed the door and leaned against
it. She'd succeeded in escaping from Colonel O'Neill, but probably not for
long. She rolled here eyes as someone knocked at her door again. She
opened it expecting to see O'Neill standing there, but it was Janet.
"Hey Doc, come on in. Quickly."
Janet laughed, "Yes I saw Colonel O'Neill leaving your room. I was on my
way here to warn you that he was looking for you in the lab a few minutes
ago."
"Yeah, he wanted me to interpret some M.A.L.P. data the tech boys gave
him. I managed to divert him into getting one of THEM to explain it to
him."
Janet laughed again, "Do you REALLY think that Jack O'Neill could
understand one of the tech boys? I have trouble with them sometimes."
"I know. So let's get out of here quickly before he comes looking for me
again."
Sam grabbed her rucksack off her bed and herded Janet out of the room. The two of them quickly headed for the elevator, and the relative freedom of outside.
Chapter 3
They had planned earlier to go and see if there were any worthwhile movies
on, but on inspection of the local movie theatre there wasn't anything
that
either of them wanted to see, so instead the spent the day together
browsing though the local shops. They found a nice local cafe, where they
had lunch and chatted about nothing in particular.
Janet found that the more time they spent together, the more they had to talk about. Sam seemed to open up and relax, and the more the two of them talked, the closer Janet felt to her. It struck Janet that she could very well be falling in love with Sam. For the first time she didn't feel any guilt about it, and enjoyed the feelings she was experiencing.
Janet realised that Sam had stopped talking and was looking strangely at
her.
"Yes?" Janet asked
"You were off somewhere else."
"Oops, sorry."
"That's ok. What were you thinking about?"
"You. Well, more specifically, us. The thought of us being together and
what it would be like."
"Mmmwant to share?"
"Well, I'd like to give it a try. As it is, I think I'm falling in love
with you - and I like it. It's sort of like being on a constant adrenalin
rush."
"Are you 100% sure about that? I mean - I know I care for you, lots, but
if I let go control of my feelings then there will be no going back for
me."
"I realise that, and I don't want to do anything that would potentially
hurt you."
Janet paused for a moment in thought.
"Would you spend the weekend with me Sam? Help me decide what I want to
do, and I'll let you know at the end of the weekend"
"Sure I'll spend the weekend with you. No matter what your answer is, I'll
always be your friend. That's if you want me to be"
Janet smiled at Sam. She couldn't believe how sweet she was being, so caring and considerate. Having Sam open and let her into her life was such a thrill.
"Of course I want you"
When they finally got back to Janet's house they were exhausted, despite having done practically nothing all day. Janet kicked her shoes off and flopped onto the couch, Sam dropped onto the floor at her feet and rested her head on the couch. Janet reached over and absently stroked her hair.
"That feels nice."
"Hrm?"
"I said 'that feels nice' - you stroking my hair."
"You have such beautiful hair, so soft and smooth." Janet tousled Sam's
hair playfully.
"OI YOU!" Sam protested, grinning
Janet poked her tongue at Sam and tousled her hair again.
"That's it, you've asked for it now!" Sam threatened playfully as she
grabbed Janet's bare foot and began to tickle it.
Janet fought back a yelp and slid off the couch, pulling her foot from
Sam's grasp as she did so.
Janet lost track of what happened then - it turned into an all-out tickle brawl, the two of them fighting off each other's attempts while trying to score a tickle on her opponent. It came to a sudden end when Sam's extensive hand-to-hand combat training kicked in and Janet found both her arms and legs pinned to the floor with Sam straddling her hips.
They stayed that way for a little while catching their breath. Sam grinned
evilly at Janet helpless on the floor.
"I told you you'd asked for it." Sam said as she restrained Janet's arms
above her head with one hand.
Sam waggled her fingers threateningly, and Janet bit her bottom lip to
stop the scream that was trying to escape - she was highly ticklish and
Sam knew it.
"Now where to tickle first" Sam pondered aloud, teasingly.
"No, please Sam" Janet gasped.
"But you started it." Sam grinned, running her nails down the exposed skin
around Janet's ribs, causing her to squirm and fight back another scream.
Sam played her fingers across Janet's stomach before running her nails
down Janet's other side. This time Janet failed in her attempt to not
scream, and a high-pitched moan escaped her lips. Janet fidgeted some
more, arching her back off the ground.
Sam looked at Janet, still grinning.
"Sam" Janet began.
"Yes?" She asked coyly.
"K-kiss me - please."
"Mmm, I don't knowI don't think you really want me to do that." Sam teased
as she played with the sensitive areas of skin around Janet's ribs and
stomach.
"Please Sam" Janet begged.
Sam toyed with the idea of tormenting Janet some more, but decided against
it. She leant forward and kissed Janet, letting go of her arms as she did
so. Janet immediately wrapped them around Sam, pulling her down close on
top of her.
Suddenly Sam found herself in the floor, pinned down b Janet who had a
self satisfied look on her face.
"I win!" said Janet smugly.
'Not fair!" Sam protested.
"Au contraire ma Cherie, totally fair. Use any means necessary in order to
ensure success. Including subterfuge."
Sam pouted and pretended to sulk, but she couldn't help the grin spreading
across her face.
"Now if only the girls in my self-defence class at the academy had learnt
that trick they might have beat me for once."
Janet laughed as she helped Sam up off the floor. In reality she had desperately wanted Sam to kiss her. It was apparent to her that she was falling in love - and falling fast.
Chapter 4
They spent another night in front of the television, sharing the same
couch. Sam had sat down on one of the lounge and Janet had promptly curled
up on the other side with her head in Sam's lap. This time it was Janet
that fell asleep, lulled by the sound of Sam breathing and the feel of her
hair being played with. Sam knew she would have to wake her up eventually,
but for the time being she just enjoyed the closeness of Janet's body.
Sam was worried that Janet might decide that a relationship between them wouldn't be worth the risk involved - and there was a very high risk. The US Air Force frowned heavily on relationships between officers who worked together, especially those in so-called "danger zones" as SGC, and frowned even more heavily upon relationships between same-sex personnel. It was true that there had been cases of same-sex relationships in the armed forces, but they were usually low rank, low profile persons. Nothing like the members of SGC, especially SG teams, who were constantly in the limelight at the Pentagon or Department of Defence.
Sam sighed. Whatever Janet's decision was, she would just have to deal with it, and hope that she could at least maintain a friendship with her. Despite all her attempts to the contrary, Sam had felt her feelings for Janet growing over the last few days. If Janet chose to just be friends then Sam would have to make an enormous effort to quash her feelings.
Just then Janet stirred, opened her eyes, and looked sleepily up at Sam.
They smiled at each other and Sam stroked the side of Janet's face, who
yawned sleepily.
"Come on sleepy head," Sam said "I'll take you up to bed."
Janet nodded and yawned some more.
Sam helped Janet sit and stand up, before walking her upstairs to her bedroom. Once there, Janet seemed to wake up a bit and was able to get herself dressed for bed without Sam's help. Seeing that Janet wouldn't need her help for the next few minutes, Sam went downstairs and fetched her bag, before going back upstairs and using the main bathroom to get changed.
By the time she was finished, Janet was already snuggled up in bed and appeared to be asleep. Sam stood in the doorway for a little while before turning away to head off to the spare room, which she and Janet had cleaned out that afternoon. AS she turned, she heard a murmur from Janet's direction.
"Sam, where are you going?"
"To bed love. It's late, I'm tired, and you're mostly asleep."
"Would you stay with me please, while I go to sleep."
"Certainly." Sam said, walking back into the room.
She climbed into the bed behind Janet, who rolled over and snuggled into
her shoulder. Sam slipped her arm under Janet's neck and got herself
comfortable in the bed.
They lay like that for a while, Sam stroking Janet's hair.
"Sam," Janet said, "why did you join the Air Force?"
"To prove that it wasn't 'This man's Air Force'?"
"Hehno really - why did you join?"
"It was really the only way I could prove anything to my father. I'd
always been in his shadow, no matter what I did. I used his name to my
advantage in the Air Force, trying to prove to him that I wasn't just his
little girl, but a fully grown woman - and one who could fly a plane like
a bat out of hell."
"And extremely intelligent too. You had figured out how the Stargate
worked before most of us even knew it existed."
"An advantage of being a theoretical physicist - I get all the juicy
goss." Sam joked. "So why did YOU join the Air Force Janet?"
"Same kind of reasons - firstly to prove to my husband that I wasn't his
little lap dog, and secondly to prove to myself that I could do it.
Besides - where else but in the Defence Force would I get to work with
exotic diseases. Hurrah for germ warfare." Janet joked sarcastically.
Sam snorted at Janet's comment.
"So really, we are both here to prove something to someone else." Janet
continued.
"Iguessyou could say that."
"Hrm - any regrets?
"Hell no! I've enjoyed every minute of my time with the Air Force - well,
maybe not EVERY minute, but I can't imagine what my life would have been
like otherwise - probably very dull."
"Same, much more interesting career path than working for CID that's for
sure. All the wonderful bacteria and viruses the SG teams bring back with
them sure makes my life more interesting than I ever could have imagined."
"Sorry." said Sam.
Janet could almost hear the guilty look on Sam's face, even though she
couldn't see it.
"Hey love," she said, snuggling in closer and stroking Sam's cheek, "you
have nothing to be sorry for."
"ButSG-1 has the highest injury and illness rate of all the teams. We must
be such a nuisance to you, always in trouble, and then complaining
constantly when you try and fix us."
"Oh Sam, it's not like that. You know as well as I do that General Hammond
sends SG-1 to the most hostile and dangerous planets, and that you are
literally SGC's front line. Besides, if the lot of you are complaining and
gripping then I know you can't be too badly hurt, it makes me worry when
one of you doesn't complain." She joked, and felt Sam smile as well.
"Do you really mean that Janet?"
"I most certainly do. You can't imagine how many times I've been put on
medical standby because SG members have injured themselves, and I hope
that it isn't you. It's even a relief to see any member of SG-1 OTHER than
you come down that ramp. If it IS you, I know you'll be okay when you
won't let people help you walk even if you need it, or when you glare at
me for trying to take your temperature."
"I'm not THAT bad." Sam protested.
"Yes you are - and worse." Janet laughed.
Sam poked Janet in the ribs, which only made her laugh more. Sam poked Janet in a few more choice ticklish spots, causing her to laugh more and more. Sam couldn't help herself from laughing as well, and soon the two of them had tears in their eyes from laughing so hard. Janet stopped first and moved so that she could see Sam's face.
"You should do that more often." Janet said quietly when Sam stopped
laughing.
"So what?"
"Laugh - it makes your whole face light up."
Sam blushed, which in the pale light from the street lamps made her look
younger and more carefree. Janet reached her hand up and brushed a few
strands of golden hair out of Sam's face. Unable to resist temptation, she
traced a line from Sam's forehead, down her cheek to her lips. She lightly
brushed her fingertips over Sam's lips. Sam kissed Janet's fingertips,
almost scared to move for fear she would break the mood.
Janet slowly leaned in towards Sam and kissed her on the lips. It started as a soft and gentle kiss, but soon became a passionate one. Sam gently slipped her tongue into Janet's mouth, and massaged her tongue with her own. Sam heard Janet moan into her mouth, and felt the shivers run up her spine at the sound.
Sam slipped her hands under the shirt of Janet's pyjamas and ran her hands up and down Janet's sides and back. Having received no protests from Janet at this, she moved her hands up towards Janet's breasts and lightly brushed her nipples. Janet gasped at the sensation and pulled back from Sam.
"I'm sorry Janet, should I now have done that?"
"No," Janet breathed, "don't apologise - I, I was enjoying it. I"
Sam stopped Janet mid-sentence with a kiss, leaving Janet feeling
breathless. When Sam broke off the kiss, Janet whimpered faintly in
disappointment. Sam looked into Janet's eyes and saw the desire dwelling
in there that she knew reflected her own. However, she couldn't give in to
her desire without knowing if it was acceptable to Janet. Gently she
reached up and stroked Janet's face.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"I don't know. I think - I don't know." Janet replied
"Are we taking this a bit too fast?"
"I think perhaps yes. Oh Sam, I want this so much, I'm just so scared."
"I know honey, me too."
Sam pulled Janet down onto the bed and held her. Janet snuggled back into
Sam's shoulder.
"Janet, you know I won't do anything you don't want to. I don't want to
scare you off - I want to be with you and love you."
Janet didn't say anything, just snuggled in closer to Sam. When she
started speaking, Sam could barely hear her.
"I want to be with you too."
Sam stroked Janet's face, and softly kissed the top of her head.
"Would you stay with me tonight please Sam. In here. Please."
"Of course."
"Thank you."
Janet lay quietly in Sam's arms, and soon went to sleep. Sam lay awake a while longer, her thoughts going a million miles an hour, but eventually she gave in to the beckoning call of sleep.
Chapter 5
Sam woke to the sound of the phone on Janet's beside table ringing. Janet
reached over and grabbed the receiver.
"Hello?" she said blearily, still half asleep.
Sam noticed Janet come fully awake as whoever it was on the other end
introduced themself.
"Yes. Yes. Yes Sir, she's here." Janet said into the receiver.
Sam mentally groaned. There was only two people who would ring Janet's
house looking for her - O'Neill and Hammond. That could only mean that her
idyllic break was over.
"Yes Sir, I'll let her know." Janet said, then hung up the phone.
"So which one was it?" Sam muttered into Janet's hair.
"General Hammond." Janet replied, rolling over to face her.
Sam groaned, her break was definitely coming to an early end.
"Let me guess - the world is falling into a black hole, the Tok'ra are
nowhere to be found, and he wants me to save everyone from impending
doom."
"Yeah - and Bugs Bunny is now running SGC with Jessica Rabbit the new CMO.
Actually, he wanted to make sure that you had been following orders - i.e.
taking a break. He knows what you are like and wanted to make sure you
hadn't snuck your lab out with you when I removed you from the base. He
told me to tell you to relax and not come back for at least a fortnight -
SG-1 has been given and extra two weeks leave, starting Monday."
"A total of three weeks leave? Wow - I don't know what I'm going to do
with all that spare time. Maybe I should have brought some of my work back
with me." Sam joked.
Janet gave Sam a light slap.
"No - you've been told to relax. That means NO work."
Sam pouted at Janet in mock disappointment, causing her to laugh.
"Don't laugh at me." Sam pouted some more.
"Don't pout at me then and I won't." Janet continued laughing.
Sam's pout increased, as did Janet's mirth.
Suddenly Janet kissed Sam. At the stunned look on Sam's face, she felt the
need to explain herself.
"I was told by someone once that the only way to stop a woman pouting was
to kiss her."
Sam grinned.
"Yeah, I'd heard that too."
"Do you think it works?"
"MmmI think so." Sam said, nuzzling into Janet's neck and pressing light
kisses to the soft skin below her ear. Sam softly kissed the tips of
Janet's ears, before nibbling gently on the sensitive skin. Janet gasped
and made soft mewling noises in the back of her throat.
Sam continued giving attention to the sensitive areas around Janet's neck and ear. She felt Janet's hands slip under her shirt. Janet played with the soft skin of Sam's stomach. She couldn't believe how good being with Sam felt - and how right. She'd never seen this side of Sam before, and was enjoying every second of it. Slowly she ran her hand up Sam's side and gently cupped her breast, before brushing her thumb over Sam's nipple and rolling it between her fingers. Sam moaned quietly into Janet's hair.
Just then, a piercing sound caused both of them to jump in fright. Janet
reached over behind her and grabbed the phone receiver.
"Hello?" she said, much more tersely than before.
Janet rolled her eyes as she realised who was on the other end, and
mouthed "O'Neill" at Sam.
"Hang on, just let me go and ask her."
Janet put her hand over the mouthpiece of the phone and gave Sam a kiss. Janet parted her lips slightly, allowing Sam's tongue entrance to her mouth. Janet played with Sam's tongue for a little while before pulling back from her.
"O'Neill just spoke to General Hammond. He and the rest of your team want
to celebrate their newfound freedom with you. He volunteered my house as a
good place to have a party. I said I'd ask you."
Sam groaned again. Just when she'd finally got to spend some time alone
with Janet, the whole of SGC wanted to do something - well, maybe not all
of SGC, but Jack O'Neill certainly made up for any missing members.
"I can't really refuse can I?"
"No, not really - it'd make people wonder why."
"I know, I know. Any other time and I'd just say yes."
"He's waiting for an answer." Janet said, indicating the phone.
"Well, I guess you can tell him yes. If it's okay with you to have your
house invaded once more by SGC's most accident prone, dense, clueless, and
notoriously destructive personnel."
Janet grinned before going back to the phone and telling O'Neill what time
to be over and what to bring. She ended the conversation quickly, and
turned her attention back to Sam, who was all too happy to be distracted
by Janet's lips and hands on her. She knew, however, that they had to get
out of bed eventually. Slowly she extracted herself from Janet's arms.
"We have to get out of bed hun. It's 10 o'clock already. As much as I'd
love to stay in bed all day being distracted by you, we have to do things
before the boys get here."
"But they're not going to be here till 5" Janet complained.
"Yes, but knowing you you'll want to clean up the house before they mess
it up. Also, they will probably get VERY drunk and crash overnight, so
we'll have to make sure there are blankets and stuff ready"
"OK, OK! Enough!" Janet laughed, interrupting Sam's monologue, "I'll get
out of bed, just stop talking!"
Sam pretended to be hurt, but couldn't keep the pretence up for long with
Janet grinning at her.
"Well come on then, up you get." Sam said.
"You first."
"Fine."
Sam rolled over to get out of bed, only to fid her legs trapped amongst
Janet's and a tangle of sheet. Sam struggled for a few moments before
freeing herself, then shot a glare at Janet who was making a valiant
attempt not to laugh. Sam flounced out of the room to get changed.
"Elite Air Force Officer held captive by bed sheets." Janet quipped at Sam's retreating back. She knew Sam would get her back later, but in the meantime she would take advantage of any situation that presented itself.
Sam hadn't been exaggerating when she'd started her 'housework tirade'. Janet spent a number of hours cleaning up her house to a level she deemed satisfactory, as well as moving select items she did NOT want broken by any drunken activities of her guests. Janet had played host to numerous SG-1 parties, and knew what the group was like when they let loose. As much as Janet loved Sam, and, in reality, all the rest of the team, she couldn't believe what a lethal combination alcohol, an archaeologist, two Air Force Officers and a rogue Jaffa made. Janet had learnt quickly to secure any breakable or easily damaged items.
Janet had assigned Sam the task of locating bedding and creating a convincing mess in the spare room. Janet didn't want any suspicions to be raised about her and Sam, and was careful to cover every angle. She also had Sam write up a list of things they'd need to buy from the store. Janet had told O'Neill that he was responsible for drinks and meat, and the girls would take care of the rest, which seemed to suit everyone just fine.
Janet had just finished with her chores when she felt Sam slip her arms around her. Janet closed her eyes and smiled, leaning back into the soft warmth of Sam's body. It had been so long since anyone had been so affectionate towards her, and she was enjoying the experience of getting to know Sam even better than she already did - and enjoying falling in love with her. Sam nuzzled into Janet's hair, breathing in deeply and inhaling the sweet smell of Janet's shampoo. Sam was amazed by how good Janet smelt, and how wonderfully she fit into her arms - it was almost as if they had been made for each other.
"How you doing short stuff?"
Janet growled at Sam's jest, but let it pass.
"Not bad. I'm mostly finished here - you ready to go shopping?"
"Yup. List is ready, spare room looks used, and I've pulled your linen
closet apart."
Janet turned around in Sam's arms so that she could roll her eyes at her.
"Great - another mess for me to clean up." She said, smiling.
Sam smiled back.
"Yeah well, that's what you get for letting me into your house."
"Hah!" Janet laughed sarcastically.
"So we going shopping or not?" Sam teased.
"Yeah, yeah. Just let me get a jacket and the car keys."
"Ooh! Can I drive?!" Sam was almost bouncing with excitement.
"No! Definitely not! I've seen how you ride the Indian! You are not going
to be given the remotest chance to do that to my car!"
Sam pouted at Janet, a puppy-dog look of 'Who, me?' on her face. Janet had to admit she was being a bit harsh on Sam, she was after all a careful driver, so she gave her a quick kiss and a wink to mollify her, and then rushed off to find a jacket and her keys.
By the time they got back from the shops, they had just over an hour to get ready before the guys turned up. Janet sent Sam off to have a shower while she prepared some salads, and packed some fresh coals into the barbecue. Having made a sufficient mess of herself, she went and had a quick shower and got dressed. As she was finishing getting changed, she heard the doorbell chime. Looking at her watch, she saw that it was a few minutes before 5 and assumed that it was Daniel at the door - he was the only on of the guys who would turn up early, Jack O'Neill never being known for being on time and Teal'c being dependant on him for a lift.
Janet knew that Sam would answer the door, so she didn't rush downstairs. When she did finally go downstairs, she Sam standing in the kitchen talking to Daniel. From where she was standing she had a full view of Sam, but neither of them could see her. Sam was wearing tight suede jeans and a sleeveless turtleneck. Janet could see the outline of the muscles in Sam's arms, shoulders and legs through the tight material.
Janet's admiration of Sam's figure was interrupted by the doorbell chiming again. She heard Sam excuse herself to Daniel before turning to see Janet regarding her. Sam shot Janet a cheeky grin and a wink before going to answer the door. Janet shook her head to clear it. If Sam could manage to distract her by just standing in the kitchen then it was probably going to be a very long night. Quickly Janet changed her train of thought, and went to say hello to Daniel, Jack, and Teal'c.
It had definitely been a long night for Janet. After Sam had gotten a few beers under her belt, she began to shamelessly flirt with Jack, who encouraged her. Janet knew it was all play between the two of them - they'd already had a very secret affair, which hadn't worked out, and had decided to just remain friends. Despite Janet's knowledge of this, she couldn't help feeling a little jealous.
After dinner and a few more drinks to loosen the collective inhibition, they moved to the lounge room floor to play drinking games. As they imbibed further alcohol, the moved onto more and more daring drinking games. So far the night had followed a predictable pattern, except, that is, for the sultry looks Sam kept casting Janet's way any time she thought he'd get away with it.
As usual, 'Jack O'Neill's Truth or Dare' came up in the round of games. Unlike normal 'Truth or Dare', the 'victim' was given the opportunity to hear the question before choosing truth or dare. If they refused to answer the question they were given a dare. If they then failed, or refused, to complete the dare then they had to drink an alcoholic concoction made up by the darer. Of course, because Jack invented the game he always started it and so got to ask the first question. This set the tone for the rest of the game, as Jack always asked sexually oriented questions.
He cornered Sam first
"So Sam" he began.
"Dammit Jack, why do you always start with me?" She joked.
" 'Cos I just love to see you blush. Anyway Sam - how many guys have you
kissed on the first date?"
Sam rolled her eyes.
"Truth - you asked me this last time. Couldn't you be more imaginative? Or
can you just not remember 'cos you'd drunk so much?" She teased.
"Say what you like Sam. Now answer the question."
"Fine. None. Your turn Teal'c."
"Major Carter - as per every other occasion I choose not to take part in
this ritual."
"Fine T. Your turn Danny." Jack said.
"Um, well. I guess this one is for you Jack. How many guys have YOU kissed
on the first date?" Daniel asked, managing to keep a completely blank
face. Daniel was rewarded with a flustered look from Jack.
"None Danny. Yeesh - come up with your own question some time."
Daniel shot Sam a triumphant smile - one of them had finally managed to
crack Jack's unflappable facade.
Chapter 6
The game went on like that for a while. Janet relaxed into the easy
camaraderie of the people around her. Sam had made sure she was sitting
next to her, and at one point placed her hand on Janet's knee. Janet
looked around the room at everyone and noted the bleary faces of alcohol
looking back.
"Right, my turn again." Jack said, "Doc - have you ever fantasised about
any of your patients after giving them a physical?"
Janet thought for a moment. The first time she'd given Sam a physical was
the same day she'd started having dreams about her. Janet knew if she
answered this question that someone would eventually ask who it was she
had fantasised about.
"Truth - yes I have." She replied.
Daniel and Jack looked at each other, before sharing a high five.
"My turn." Daniel said enthusiastically, "Janet - who have you fantasised
about after giving them a physical?"
"Dare"
Janet could see the wheels turning in Daniel's head. She had always
thought he was a nice, sweet young man - until they first time they'd
played this game. Daniel proved to have as dirty and as devious as mind as
Jack.
"Right, a dare. Um, ok then - kiss Sam. Big kiss too, tongue and
everything. No chickening out on this one Janet." Daniel grinned cheekily.
Janet looked over at Sam, whose face was unhelpfully blank. She had no clue as to whether accepting this dare was advisable. She felt a faint brush of Sam's hand on her thigh, and assumed it was encouragement to accept.
"Accepted" She said out loud.
She turned to Sam, took her face in her hands and kissed her. Just as Daniel requested she made it a long kiss, and allowed Sam's tongue entrance to her mouth. Janet lost track of how long they had been kissing, but when they did separate she felt breathless. Sam looked away from Janet, appearing to look completely unfazed by the fact that they had just kissed in front of her C.O.
Janet looked calmly at Daniel, apparently nonplussed by what had just happened. Daniel suddenly seemed to find his bottle of beer highly enthralling. Jack, on the other hand, was nearly visibly drooling, while Teal'c just raised an eyebrow at the peculiar customs of the Tau'ri.
When Daniel finally looked up, Janet gave him a long, hard look.
"Satisfactory Dr Jackson?" she enquired formally.
"Aah yes. Um, meets expected standards sufficiently." Daniel managed to
stutter, a blush creeping up his neck and across his face.
"Fine then. I guess it's my turn. Daniel - how many non-hetero
relationships did you have while at college?"
"Aah, ummdare."
"Right - remember that you started this. As requested of me, I request of
you - kiss Jack. Big kiss now, tongue and everything."
A look of panic crossed Jack's face when Daniel didn't immediately refuse. Janet noticed a faint smile on Teal'c's face and inwardly grinned - even the Jaffa found the payback amusing.
"Uh, pass." Daniel finally answered.
Janet took great delight in mixing a horrible concoction of beer, baileys,
red cordial, midori, peach schnapps and vodka for Daniel to drink. The
green look on his face as he watched her mix it was almost enough revenge
for his dare - almost. They grey colour of his skin afterwards satisfied
her need for payback, luckily for Daniel as she knew many ways of making
his next physical extremely uncomfortable
They played games and drank lots more as the night wore on, before Janet
finally decided to call it a night and turn in.
"Alright, thatch enough. I'm shtarting to shlur - bed time for me. You too
Sham." She said, trying to pull the taller woman from the floor.
"Aaw, how'c'm Sam ge's a purznal 'vite to your bed Doc?" O'Neill asked,
his speech heavily affected by the excessive amount of alcohol he had
consumed.
" 'Cos she's my number one girl. Besides, she's not shleeping with me. She
has her own bed."
Sam finally managed to get herself off the floor, nearly falling over in
the process as Janet leaned heavily on her. Jack tried to stand and
support them both, but only managed to get to his knees.
"Hey Doc - if you aren' taking Sam t' bed, can I go wi' one of you
'nstead?" Jack asked, a hopeful look on his face.
At that point, Teal'c reached out and grabbed Jack by the collar and
pulled him back to the floor, restraining him with one hand on his
shoulder.
"Don't worry Dr. Fraiser, Major Carter - I shall ensure that Daniel
Jackson and Colonel O'Neill are comfortably retired down here for the
night."
"Thanksh Teal'c." Janet said, stumbling her way to the stairs, Sam in tow.
Jack shot Teal'c a dirty look.
"Than's 'mate' "
"You are welcome." Teal'c responded in his usual manner, "I did not think
you were prepared for the outcome your actions may have yielded. I do not
think your presence was required by Dr Fraiser and Major Carter."
Jack frowned at Teal's, not understanding what he was saying. Thinking was
making his head hurt, so he turned to Daniel who appeared to be asleep and
poked him.
Meanwhile, Sam and Janet were helping each other up the stairs. At the top, Janet straightened up and stood on her own, with her arm still around Sam.
"Right Miss," She said to Sam, "time to get you changed and into bed."
The bleary look cleaned from Sam's face, to be replaced by one of
amazement.
"You're not drunk! You drank almost as much as I did - how come you're not
drunk?"
"Oh I am dear, just not as much as I was letting on. I DID go to college
you know. I learnt more about drinking than I did about medicine in my
first year. Besides - I wasn't the only one pretending to be more
inebriated than I really am." Janet said, giving Sam a pointed look. Sam
had the decency to look embarrassed.
"So, do you need me to dress you, or are you capable of doing it on your
own?"
Sam gave Janet a cheeky grin before answering.
"Oh I don't know. I think that last beer may be going to my head. Maybe I
will need your help after all." Sam lied blatantly, the cheeky grin firmly
pasted on her face.
"Thought as much." Janet said, taking Sam's hand in her's and walking
towards her bedroom.
"I thought you told the boys that I had my own bed."
"Stuff the boys. They won't be getting up any time before us, and Teal'c
wouldn't let either of them come up here even if they did."
Sam shrugged at Janet's logic and let herself be led into the main bedroom
where Janet closed the door behind them and left the light off.
Janet turned around to face Sam, and ran her hands lightly up her arms and back, pulling her into a loose hug. Sam gladly returned the embrace, pleased that Janet was allowing herself to let go. Janet broke off the hug and tugged at the bottom of Sam's shirt, trying to pull it off over Sam's head. Sam lifted her arms to help Janet remove her shirt. Janet tossed it over in the corner. She noticed that Sam hadn't been wearing a bra under her shirt. Slowly she ran her hands up Sam's sides, gently touching the skin across her stomach, before gently cupping Sam's breasts and running her thumbs over the erect nipples.
She played with Sam's nipples for a few moments longer, before moving her hands down to the waistband of Sam's jeans, undoing the buttons and slipping them from Sam's slim hips. Sam stepped out of her jeans and kicked them over in the general direction her shirt had gone. Janet took Sam's hand and led her over to the bed. She pushed Sam gently onto the bed and stepped away out of her arm reach. Slowly she started to unbutton her blouse, before letting it slip off her shoulders to the floor. Then she undid the buttons on her jeans and slipped out of them, leaving them in a puddle at her feet.
Sam watched Janet stripping, fighting the urge to get off the bed and help, wanting to run her hands over Janet's body, get to know what it felt like and how Janet liked to be touched, Instead she placed her hands flat on the bed and made herself watch, a bittersweet torture.
When Janet was finished, leaving only her panties on, she knelt on the bed, straddling Sam's hips. She didn't quite know what she was doing, but she was enjoying it. And from the look in Sam's eyes, so was she. Janet kissed Sam, trying to convey everything she felt in that one action. Sam wrapped her arms around Janet, pulling her down on top of her, and deepening the kiss.
Janet giggled as Sam's breath tickled her cheek.
"I think you may be more affected by your drinking habits than you care to
admit." Sam teased.
"I think so too." Janet said, rolling off Sam and sprawling across the
bed, her legs resting on Sam's.
"Maybe sleep is a good idea then." Sam suggested.
"Yeah, ok." Janet replied, making herself more comfortable.
In the lounge room, Daniel rolled over and peered at the dark mass
representing Jack.
"Hey Jack"
"What Daniel?"
"Do you think it worked?"
"Your dare and plan to get the Doc and Sam together?"
"Yeah"
"Maybe, we'll just have to wait and see."
Back in Janet's room, the two women were curled up happily in each other's
arms.
"Hey Sam"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I know. I love you too."
They were silent for a while, just pondering how good it felt to finally
tell each other how they felt.
"Hey Sam" Janet said again.
"Yes Janet?"
"Thank you for waiting for me."
"That's ok - you know what mama always said"
"There'd be days like this?"
"Heh - no, not quite. Mama said you can't hurry love"
Janet snuggled in closer to Sam, inhaling the sweet smell of Sam's hair and the muskiness of her skin. Soon they were both happily asleep, dreaming of each other.
