Career Facts:
At the age of 16, Orlando moved to London to join the National Youth Theatre. He then moved onto the British American Drama Academy, where he played the lead role in A walk in Vienna Woods. His first on screen appearance was in the critically acclaimed Wilde in 1997. He was then accepted into Guildhall School or Music and Drama. Once he finished his education, Orlando powered on to become Legolas in The Lord of the Rings - and the movie roles have been flooding ever since!
What inspired him to act:
When Orlando was asked what inspired him to become an actor, he replied, " When i found out that Superman was an actor, i thought, that's for me man!"

Tattoos:
The nine "fellowship" cast members of Lord of the Rings, each got an Elvish Tattoo. Orlando got "9" in Elvish script tattooed on his forearm.

Near Death Experience:
Orlando nearly killed himself a few years back, falling 3 storeys. "I was trying to get on some friends' roof terrace to kick in a warped door. I stepped on a piece of gutter and it didn't hold. For four days they didn't think i would be able to walk again. I actually had a miraculous recovery! I walked out in 12 days, pinned and plastered. It refocused me, made me appreciate life!"
