This page is no longer being updated. Please visit us on our new website www.foxvalleygrapplingclub.com The Fox Valley Grappling Club was formed during the summer of 2000 just outside of Appleton, WI. The goal of the club was to spread and further the study of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Wrestling in NE Wisconsin.
The FVGC focuses its training on groundwork and realistic self-defense training. Training takes place both with a gi and without. A gi is the traditional jacket worn in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Training in a gi looks similar to Judo but with less emphasis on the takedown and more work done in ground grappling. No gi training resembles freestyle wrestling - with the grapplers working toward a submission rather than a pin. All of our practices are flexible and low pressure. Members are encouraged, but not required, to compete. We understand that people train for different reasons. Some train for physical fitness while others train to do well in tournaments. We try to meet everyones needs while progressing ahead as a group. Practices are run by Bill Krieg. It is important to know that Bill is not an instructor. Our instructor is Official Rickson Gracie Black Belt Rodrigo Vaghi out of St. Louis, MO. Bill has been a student of Rodrigo for a number years and passes down techniques given to him from Rodrigo to members of the club. Bill regularly trains with Rodrigo picking up new techniques and refining positions. All members are encouraged to travel with Bill to train with Rodrigo at his school in Missouri. |
