When you wish to send mail out, if you will stand your letters upright the mail carrier will know that it is out
going mail. Otherwise if it is laying flat she might assume that it is mail that has not yet been picked up. This will help make her job easier. Thank you.

'Twas a Bra Bricht Moonlict Nicht...
February 13th dawned bright and beautiful, but COLD! As evening approached the temperature plunged even more dramatically. And yet, nineteen people from Foxboro Green wound their way to the Heritage Harvest Farm at Heidelberg for the Valentine Social Event... a hayride in the country.
Some of us, wearing 3 layers of clothing and pepper in our boots, wondered if we were really ready for this. But armed with blankets we climbed aboard and snuggled up.
The two huge, beautiful horses that pulled our wagon, their bells jingling in the cold, crisp air; the soft moonlight on the snow; the quiet of the woods and the echoing of laughter all combined to make the ride magical.
After sharing the camaraderie of the ride, followed by hot cider and donuts galore, we returned home with a feeling of exhilaration and youthfulness.. eager and ready to repeat the experience at some later date.
Where To Shop
Jim and Mary Ainsworth have lived their lifetime in this area, and as a result many of the newcomers to Foxboro Green have asked their advice on good places to shop. Jim has compiled a list of the places they found suited their needs. We decided to publish it in full, rather than a few at a time, so that you would have the information all in one place, for easy filing.
Thank you Jim and Mary for the thought and effort you put into this for the community.
Factory Outlets:
There are many outlets in this area and a book is available at book stores and most supermarkets which list all of them.
Caution: Be careful, as many outlets are not genuine and their prices are high.
Honey:
On your next visit to New Hamburg, watch for the Honey sign after the S turn. Go in for a visit. They will show you large vats of different kinds and give you a sample before you purchase.
Bakery:
The number 1 choice in our books is Norris Bakery, 460 Frederick St., Kitchener. Try their coffee cake and meat pies. They're delicious! Anna Mae's baked goods are now available in New Hamburg at the video store in the Knechtel plaza . The bake shop in New Hamburg also has good pies.
Bargains:
The Home Hardware in New Hamburg has a basement department. Returned goods from all the Home stores are sent there. They also get slightly marked merchandise and items the the Manufacturere repairs and sells with a guarantee.
K W Surplus clearing house 666 Victoria N. Kitchener, has thousands of different items at attractive prices.
Dining Out:
Golf's Steak House has a good Sunday brunch and delicious prime rib.
Charcoal Steak House are noted for spare ribs and steak, but rather pricey.
Rita's Eatery, 375 Weber E. Kitchener was started by Rita who had managed the Charcoal for many years. She serves the same items, but her prices are more reasonable. Reservations are recommended.
Harmony Lunch, 90 King N. Waterloo is now operated by the 3rd generation. They serve a completely different kind of hamburger. You can watch them cook it and see the mounds of fried onions.
Homestyle Diner, 462 Albert, Waterloo is a good family style restaurant. They serve mini meals- just the right size for us.
Horseshoe Restaurant, 17 Erb St. Waterloo is similar to Homestyle Restaurant.
Pioneer Bar B Q, 22 Sportsworld For over 50 yrs. we have enjoyed their excellent pork and beef BBQ, home made pies and cakes.
Old Country Restaurant, Peel St. New Hamburg has excellent liver and onions. Also good steaks and prime rib at very attractive prices.
Anna Mae's at Millbank has family style dinners at reasonable prices.
Cheese: When you go to Anna Mae's instead of turning in, go left and you will find Millbank Cheese at the end of the street. They have a factory outlet.
Citrus Fruit and Pecans: Watch for an ad (about 3 x 2) in the K.W. Record by the Orange Barn at Millbank. They advertise when they have a truckload of tree ripened oranges, grapefruit and pecans.
Summer Sausage: N. S. Martin at Hawksville has a building with several hundred hanging from the ceiling. Each one is priced so take your choice.
T.V. & Stereo Repair: Discount Electronics, 1677 Victoria N, Kitchener. Mr. Lipski worked for years for Electrohome and is well qualified.

Green with Envy
David and Joan Beveridge will always remember their 1997 Valentine's Day dinner.
They had saved the gift certificate they received in their Welcome Basket from Foxboro Green until February 14th, as a special way to celebrate. It was for a dinner for 2 at Martini's.
They hit the jackpot when the restaurant, in a draw of diners' names picked theirs' for the Grand Prize. And what was that? Said Joan,we won... a weekend for two at the Sheraton Hotel in Niagara Fall, complete with a Jacuzzi suite, $100.00 dinner for two and all expenses paid. What a nice surprise!
Congratulations Dave and Joan. Sounds like you have the Luck O' the Irish. Enjoy!
Jack & I would like to thank our friends in Foxboro Green for your kind remembrance at the time of the death of Jack's brother.
Thank you for thinking of us.

Alcoholic Beverages and Foxboro Centre cont'd
There is a provision in the law that states that if a liquor licence is applied for once, then thereafter a licence is required, even if application is made in error.
We DON'T want to set this precedent.
Please DO NOT apply for a liquor licence if booking and / or using Foxboro Centre
Volume 3, Issue 3
As told by an Irish Sister:
A nun came into a wee inheritance. The Mother Superior said, Now ya know ya can't keep it! I know Mother.
Well what're ya goin' ta do wi' it?
Well, Mother, I'm goin' out on th' street, an' the first poor wee man I see I'm goin' ta give it ta him.
So out she went, and when she saw a wretched looking fellow, she handed him $100. and said God's Speed.
Next day the bell at the convent was rung and when the nun opened it, there stood the same fellow with a fist full of money. He thrust $2000. in her hand and said- There ya are Sister, -God's Speed came in at 20 - 1!

Fox Talk Delivery
Through wind or rain, snow or mud, Fox Talk has been delivered to your home since it's inception in November 1995 . Now with the opening of Foxboro Centre you will be able to pick up your copy of Fox Talk when you go for your mail.
Our aim is to have Fox Talk available by the middle of each month. There will be times when exceptions must be made.
When you pick up your newsletter, please check your name off on the list of Residents' names. These will be by Street and Residence number.
This is IMPORTANT since we don't always know when you are away and when you will return. This way, your copy will be reserved for you.
Please contact the Wills on your return to pick up your Fox Talk, as any newsletters not picked up within 2 or 3 mail days, will be removed, so as to ensure they do not go missing.
Fox Talk Survey
We appreciate those residents who completed their survey by the deadline of March 1st. That date was set with our Committee meeting in mind. However, in hindsight we realize that this did not give our Snow Birds enough time to mail the survey back to us, and they too should be able to have a voice in it.
Therefore we are extending the Deadline to April 10th. For those of you for whom it has simply slipped your mind, the box will be left in the mail room until that date. Thank you.
Alcoholic Beverages and The Foxboro Centre
The LCBO, (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) has confirmed that the centre is an extension of our homes. The rules which apply to the serving of alcohol in our homes also apply in the Centre.
For example: No sale of alcoholic beverages
NO LIQUOR LICENCE REQUIRED
