Olwen Niessen
On behalf of the ALS Society of Ontario, I would like to thank all the Foxboro residents who contributed funds to this walkathon. A special personal "thank you" to my wonderful neighbours who pledged in support of my participation in the 10k event. I am deeply appreciative of your generosity in joining me in helping this underfunded and neglected cause.

-----------------------
Welcome cards and Recreation Centre Information were delivered to Robert Bliss & Mary Pringle,
Victor and Joan Cook, Len & Mary Ann Martin, and George Walker & Ellen Baynton-Walker.
A Condolence card was sent to Connie Trentleman on the passing of her sister.

-------------------------

Welcome to all new residents moving in this summer and fall. There are many ways to get to know your neighbours. One way is by volunteering to help in various areas. Three of these areas looking for help are: the Grounds Committee; the Kitchen Committee, (both have sign up sheets in the Mail Room files); and the Set up Committee, which sets up rooms for meetings and community functions. (Call Ross Fairweather for this, 634-8924)

From the Social Committee:

To date, fund raisers have brought in $660.32. These include Weekender Wear, 5th Ave. Jewellry, Party Lites, 50/50 draws and Zehr's tapes. Another cheque for $173.53 is on its way for the latest Zehrs' tapes collect- ed by the community. Thank you.

Some of this money was used to buy 40 patio chairs and 8 tables. They have been put to good use already at the Victoria Day BBQ and the Seminar held at the Grand Opening of the new Model Homes. Thanks go to Heather Keith who made the purchase, and Jim Arbuckle & Bob Price for delivery of same.

F.A.N.F.F.G Golf Tournament by Nancy Arbuckle

The FIRST ANNUAL NORTH FLORIDA FOXBORO GREEN GOLF TOURNAMENT was held in beautiful DESTIN in late February. Such notable golfing couples as Isabel and Ken Smith, Wally and Joyce Morrison, George and Jean Usaty and Nancy and Jim Arbuckle were the celebrity golfers. A great time was had by all. Thanks to Jean and George for a delicious banquet.

LADIES DUFFERS MEET EACH TUESDAY AT 1 P.M.

Golfer's Etiquette................. contributed by Jean Usaty

When to the links you go
There are certain things to know.
Never talk or hum or sing
When a golfer starts to swing.

Never let your shadow fall
Across another's putting ball,
Never doubt an opponent's score
You saw 6, but mark it 4!

Never kick one from the rough,
Play it fair when luck is tough
Never cheat in deepest wood,
God is watching, so be good.

Never raise your voice or swear
When you top or fan the air,
Never, even as a joke
Fail to count each single stroke.

Don't improve a hanging lie
"Accidentally" on the sly,
In a sand trap, it's a rub,
Never, never ground your club.

When a foursome presses you
Don't be nasty, let 'em through.
When you tear the soil, don't frown,
Put it back and press it down.

Do all these things and then, old kid,
You'll be the first one who ever did.

Care Committee Report

As of June 1st a total of 49 surveys have been returned. The response of the respondents was most generous.

The following people indicated they were willing to serve as co-ordinators:

Care Committee #1.......Marg Wendland
Care Committee #2.......Eileen Fairweather
Care Committee #3.......Robt. and Faith Mundy

Marg Macdonald will at present be the overall coordinator, setting this up on computer, and meeting with the coordinators in the near future to get this new venture established.

The community owes a debt of gratitude to the above, and to all who so generously offered assistance. There is still need for back up for coordinators when they are away. If you are willing to assist in this way please contact any of the above, or the editors.

Recreation Committee Report.........by Russ Wilson

Help save $$$ 's
Frequently many lights are left on unnecessarily in our Centre, (sometimes all night), particularly in the change rooms, sauna and lower level halls. It would be a financial benefit to all of us, if everyone made a habit of turning off all the lights when we are the last to leave an area. It is not necessary for the change room lights to be left on when you are in the pool. Halogen light bulbs, of which we have many, cost almost $90.00 to replace.

Shared Facilities
Residents are responsible for their guests. This includes checking the change rooms after use to make sure personal items (e.g. wet swim suits, noodles etc.) are not left behind. Young children need to be supervised when using washrooms:-
If they sprinkle when they tinkle,
Please be neat and wipe the seat!

Tennis Lessons
Wally Morrison is generously donating his time to give Tennis Lessons to people interested in learning or improving the game. They are given at the Tennis Court each Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.Please phone Wally if you plan to attend.
New Items
Thanks to Bob Barnhart for providing funds for our new storage compartment which is located in the outdoor kitchen. The outdoor activities equipment will be stored there.
Special thanks to Bob Price for picking up the cupboard and to Al Keith for helping Bob and I assemble it.

We have replaced the torn and dirty shower curtains in t he change rooms with polyester ones which have proper grommets and can be easily laundered.

Our new fan in the fitness room will "help" to alleviate the heat in the room for the users.

Clarification re: New Municipal Addressing-

The only change to Foxboro Green residents is this:- Should you need to call 911, you no longer use the emergency locator number, only your House Number , Street Name, and Foxboro Green.
