Mirror, Mirror
by d r hyden

Mirror, mirror what's wrong with me?
I look in you daily, fearfully,
Ugliness is what I behold
Alas it's me, or so I'm told.

Rotund, obese, and frightfully pale,
Unfortunately, it's me that hails
From this body, trapped inside
Forever from the world I hide.

Show me fear, and show me pain,
I'll show you me, I am not vain.
Beauty within, ugly without,
That's exactly what I'm all about.

I'm afraid of what's inside of me,
So I hide it with obesity.
Mirror, mirror, tell me true,
Am I all I see in you?

Do people see beyond their eyes
Can they see that beauty lies
Just beyond the skin and veins.
One heart beats in lots of pain.

I hurt, I feel, like anyone.
but, it seems, I have no one.
No one cares what they can't see;
Not ugliness....
                 ....it's only me.

Hi, my name is Doni Rose Hyden, I'm 32 years old.  (why does that sound so old?)  I have a 10 year old son, who is my world.
I'm a poet, artist (didn't say i was very good at it...), and a writer.  I am also a dreamer, and a smartazz.  I love to dream and to create.
I'm still learning about this technology thing...but I'm getting there.
God and my son are the two most important things in my life.  Next comes my family, and my friends.
I love to read, and fantasy is one of my favorite genres.  Lord of the Rings is my current favorite, tho I read anything and everything, and LOTR makes me a bit sad.  It is so well written that it drags you into the story and when it's over.... well, reality isn't so kind.  It slaps you in the face and it's like taking a bucket of cold water over the head straight out of a pleasant dream.
I did watch the LOTR (extended versions only of course) and when I came out of that fantasy world and back into reality, it took me a looong time to stop being sad.  I'm still not completely over it.  I must say, Billy Boyd, Domenic Monaghan, Elijah Wood, and Sean Astin made the perfect hobbits.  They complemented each other so well.
This is not a fan site, so I will shut up now...
so, here is my site, and now you know a little about me.

ps  feel free to email me about my site...or i'm on yahoo im, as foxspirit72  thanks.
Dreaming of Middle Earth
by dr hyden

Out of step, and out of place,
Somewhere in this Human Race
There's got to be a niche
That I can call my own.

Should have been born in a time
Of castles, wizards, and of rhymes.
That Hobbits and Elvenkind
And Dragons called their home.

Where folks go on magic quests,
Rings are cursed and heroes blessed,
Adventure is the rule
And I could find myself.

A heroine, I could be
Bound in chains, and yet break free.
To save the distressed Knight,
And win the heart of an Elf.

But here I sit, home instead,
Dreaming most, of books I've read,
Fantasy is better
Than Real Life any day.

So heavy heart, I lift my head,
Put book away, and go to bed.
Alas, my life of Dreams,
And dreams all fade away.
