Chapter 37

"What?" Lyn asked.  Instead of answering her, Brian turned and ran upstairs.  "Bri, wait...What are you suppose to do?" she asked, running after him.  She followed him into her computer room, "Brian?"  "I need a computer," he said, looking around at all the equipment in the room, "One that has a printer and a word processor on it."  "Ohhhh Kayyyyyy," Lyn said, looking at him like he'd lost his mind for a moment, then glancing around the room.  "That one I have just as a back up, you can use it if you want," she said, pointing to a system sitting in the corner.  Brian smiled ear to ear, "Great, can I set it up in the second master bedroom?"  "Uh yeah I guess," Lyn said, watching as Brian walked over and grabbed the CPU.  "Bri, you still haven't told me what it is you're suppose to do," she urged.

"Huh?" he asked, still fumbling with unplugging some of the cords from the back of the CPU.  Lyn walked over and helped him, "What do you need this for?"  "Oh, I gotta write something," he said absentmindedly.  "Write what?" she asked, grabbing the keyboard and the mouse and following him out of the room.  "I dunno yet," Brian said, as they bottomed the stairs and walked across the living room to the second master bedroom.  "OK, you know you gotta write something but you don't know what?" she asked, confused.  He nodded, "Yeah."  "Um Bri, don't most people know what they want to write before they actually sit down and write it?" she asked.  Brian sat the CPU on the bed and looked around the room, "I dunno, I'm not a writer."  He then walked over to the small desk in the room and pulled it away from the wall.  He drug it across the carpet to the windows, placing it where he wanted it, then retrieved the CPU and placed it underneath the desk.

Lyn walked over and placed the mouse and keyboard on the desk, turning and following Brian back upstairs.  "Bri, aren't you tired?  You said you didn't sleep much last night," she asked on their way back downstairs with the monitor and printer.  "No, I'm wide awake," he said, "I feel like if I don't start writing something soon I'm gonna explode."  He sat the monitor on the desk and positioned it just right, then took the printer from Lyn, placing it where he wanted it.  "Bri, why don't you go get a shower and I'll finish setting this up for you," she offered.  He looked at her, biting his bottom lip, "Uh you sure?"  She smiled at him, "Yeah, I'll have it up and going by the time you get out."  He grinned at her, grabbing her and planting a quick kiss on her lips before heading out of the room, "Thanks!" he yelled as he ran into their room.  Lyn laughed shaking her head, "Now this should be interesting," she said looking up at the ceiling, "You do know he can't type right?"

"Oh God, I knew I shouldn't have eaten all those eggs for breakfast," Kira groaned.  Howie smiled at her as he gently ran his hand over her protruding belly, "Can I get you anything?"  "Yeah, a bucket of antacid would be nice," she said.  He laughed, "Well I dunno bout a whole bucket, but I'll see what I can find."  He got up from the couch and went upstairs.  Kira watched him until he went into their room, out of sight.  She ran her hand over her stomach, "OK little girl, you can stop making my stomach do flip flops anytime now."

Just then the phone rang.  Kira reached over and picked it up, "Hello?"  "Hey girl, how ya doing?" Kristin asked.  "Well, other than the little one playing games with my stomach, good.  You?" she answered.  Kristin laughed, "We're good.  I was wondering if you wanted to go into town with me today.  There's a new shop opening that I wanted to check out."  "Oh?  What kind of shop?" Kira asked.  "It's a new clothing store, suppose to be really great, all the latest stuff," she said.  "Yeah, I'll go.  I'll have fun watching you try on things, since I won't be able to get my pregnant rear into anything," Kira laughed.  "Oh I'm sure they'll have something there for you," Kristin said.  Kira rolled her eyes, "Yeah right.  I'm five months pregnant Kris, no store has anything I can wear now."  "Hey speaking of that," Kristin said, "Are you guys gonna have that test to see what the baby is?"  "It's a girl, we already know," she answered.  "Oh you had the test?" Kristin asked.  "No, remember Nick told us at the wedding.  We're having three girls," Kira reminded her.  "Oh yeah, I forgot.  I wonder how he and Tara are doing," Kristin said.  "I don't know.  I talked to Lyn the other day, she hasn't heard from them," Kira said.  "What about Bri?  Has he figured out what he's doing yet?" Kristin asked.  "Nope.  It was so funny to, Lyn said he was driving her insane, wondering around the house trying to think of something," Kira said.  Kristin laughed, "That sounds like him.  I hope he figures it out soon though."  "Yeah, me to.  I dunno about you, but all this war stuff makes me nervous," she said.  "Yeah, it does me to.  Anyway, Kev is yelling at me so I need to scoot.  I'll pick you up around one?" Kristin said.  "Sounds good, we'll be ready," Kira replied.  "K, bye," Kristin said, hanging up the phone.

Howie walked downstairs, "Baby, this was all I could find," he said, handing her a bottle of Tums.  "It'll work, thanks," she said, taking the bottle and grabbing a couple pills.  "Who was on the phone?" he asked, sitting down.  "Kris, we're going shopping this afternoon," Kira said, smiling.  Howie laughed, "Oh no, there's no telling what you're gonna come home with."  Kira shrugged, "True," she glanced at her stomach, "Baby, you haven't said good morning yet."  Howie grinned, leaning towards her stomach, "Good morning little one.  You need to be nice to your mommy and stop playing with her stomach."  Kira laughed, "I'm sure she's minding you already."  "Hey, it never hurts to start early," Howie said.  "I know baby," she said, patting his knee.  "You feeling better?" he asked.  "I will in a minute, why?" she asked.  "I was going to go work on the nursery for a while," he said.  She smiled at him, "I'll be fine, go ahead."  Howie leaned over and kissed her, "Yell if you need anything."  "I will.  Um, when are you gonna let me see it?" she asked.  "Not until it's done," he said, waving his finger at her, "And no peeking."  "Me?  Peek?" she teased.  He nodded, "I know you to well, no peeking.  I want to surprise you."  "OK baby, I promise I won't look," Kira said.  "Good," Howie said as he made his way up the stairs.

Lyn stood in the door of the bedroom Brian was working in, watching in awe.  After he'd gotten his shower, she showed him how to create a document and how to print and save it, then he'd gone to work.  That was hours ago, and he hadn't stopped yet.  She didn't know what he was writing, but his fingers flew over the keyboard like nothing she'd ever seen.  He literally had to peck at the keys before, but now he was typing faster than she could.  He seemed to be in some sort of daze as he wrote, not really aware of what was going on around him.  Every so often he would stop and save what he had done, printing it out before he continued on.

Tracy appeared next to Lyn, watching as well.  "Do you know what he's writing?" Lyn asked.  Tracy shook her head, "No, I don't."  "I'm not so sure he knows what he's writing," Lyn said, "Look at him.  It's like he's been possessed or something."  Tracy laughed, "Something like that.  God is telling him what to say, that much I can sense."  They watched for a few more minutes.  "Should I stop him?  He needs to eat something," Lyn said.  Tracy shrugged her shoulders, "I dunno hon, you could try."

Lyn walked over standing next to Brian, "Bri, why don't you stop and get something to eat?"  Brian continued typing, not even acknowledging that she was there.  Lyn looked back at Tracy for help.  Tracy shrugged her shoulders.  Lyn watched as Brian finished the paragraph he was on, then saved his work.  He set the printer to print the pages he'd done since the last time he'd stopped and watched as the printer went to work.  Lyn put her hand on his shoulder, "Brian?"  He looked up at her, blinking a few times, "Oh hi.  I didn't know you were there."  "Yeah, I noticed," she said, "Are you hungry?  You haven't had anything to eat yet today and it's mid afternoon already."  "It is?" he asked, looking a little confused.  "Yeah, it's two thirty in the afternoon," she said.  "Oh, OK," Brian said, standing up and immediately realizing that his legs had gone to sleep while he was sitting there.  He grabbed the desk, "Wow, that's weird."  "What?" Lyn asked, concerned.  "My legs are asleep," he laughed, as the tingling sensation shot down his legs.  He slowly walked out of the room and into the kitchen, sitting down at the table.

Lyn went about fixing him a plate and sat it in front of him.  "So, what are you writing?" she asked.  "Something," he said, taking a large bite of food.  Lyn laughed, "I know you're writing something.  I've been watching you all day.  Exactly what are you saying?"  Brian looked down at his food for a moment, "I don't remember."  Lyn cocked her head, "You don't remember what you wrote?"  He shook his head, "No I don't."  "Bri, when did you learn how to type?" she asked.  He shrugged, "I'm not sure.  It's like when I sat down I just knew how."  Lyn took a deep breath, "This is really strange.  Bri, what's the last thing you remember before I asked you if you wanted something to eat?"  He bit his bottom lip and looked at her, "You showing me how to work the computer."

Lyn stared at him in complete shock, "Bri, that was six hours ago."  He looked at her for a moment, then went back to eating without a word.  "Honey, can I read what you have printed out so far?" she asked.  He nodded, as he finished his plate.  He got up to go back to the room, only to be stopped by Lyn grabbing his wrist.  "Maybe you should rest for a little while before you go back to it," she said.  "No, I've gotta keep going," he said, pulling away from her and heading back to the room.  "Tracy, how long can he do that before he crashes?" Lyn asked.  Tracy appeared next to her, "I'm not sure.  As long as God needs him to I guess."  "And what happens when he's done?" she asked.  "Then I guess he'll rest," Tracy said.  Lyn got up putting Brian's plate away, then headed into the room.  Brian was already typing again, lost in his own world.  Lyn picked up the stack of papers and flipped them over.  Walking over to the bed and getting comfortable she started to read the words that had taken over Brian's entire being.  "Oh my God," she mumbled, looking at Brian for a moment before continuing on.
