Chapter 32

Kevin had relayed the entire story to the three, from the time they met Tara, to when Nick and Tara left to go undercover.  "So you're telling us that Nick and Tara are angels?" Harold asked.  Kevin sighed, "Well, something like that.  They don't like to be called angels."  "We're helpers," Tracy added.  "And you're Lyn's sister?" Jackie asked.  Tracy nodded, "Yes."  Harold and Jackie looked at one another, still in disbelief.  "I just can't believe all this has been going on and we didn't know," Jackie said.  "Well, there are some things children just can't tell their parents," Lyn said, "And this happened to be one of them."  Everyone laughed.  Dr. Skinner sat silently.  Every so often he would glance at Brian, then to Tracy, then to Ted.  Tracy could tell he wanted to ask something, but felt out of place doing to.  She walked over and put her hand on his shoulder, "You can run tests, but you won't find anything."  He nodded, "I know, but there aren't many confirmed miracles out there.  I can't tell anyone what I witnessed, but I can show by his tests that there's still a God, and he's still working."  Tracy smiled at him and nodded.

"So wait, I gotta question," A.J. said, "If Brian was allowed to come back, does that make him like you guys," he asked, looking at Tracy.  Tracy took a deep breath, "No, he's not like us."  "But he was talking in your language," Howie said.  Tracy walked over to the bed and sat on the edge, placing her hand on Brian's cheek.  "Guys, he spoke in our language because it was the only way he could communicate at the time.  His mortal body was too weak, so his spirit took over," she explained.  "So do we all know this language then?" Kira asked.  Tracy nodded, "Yes, everyone is born knowing it, they just never use it in their mortal lives.  Brian wont remember speaking it when he wakes up."  "But I still don't get why he's not like you now," A.J. said.  "Brian never entered the gates.  He wasn't judged and given the choice to come back like Nick, Tara and I were.  God allowed Nick to bring him back before any of that happened, so he will be as he was before," she said.  "So Nick's seen heaven?" Harold asked.  Tracy nodded, "As have I and Tara."  Harold and Jackie squeezed each others hands, overwhelmed by what they had learned, and overjoyed by it at the same time.

"Tracy, Nick was hurt when he left, is he gonna be alright?" Kevin asked.  She nodded, "He's fine."  "Do you know what happened?" Sarah asked.  Tracy nodded, "Everyone have a seat and get comfortable.  This may take a while...."

Tara walked into the living room and sat down on the couch facing Gideon and Micah.  "You haven't rested," Gideon said.  Tara looked at him, "I can't until you tell me what you know about Nick."  Gideon sighed, looking over at Micah.  Micah nodded, "She's a part of him now, she needs to know the whole story."  Gideon looked back over, "Nick or Nickolas I should say is God's chosen leader."  "You mean for the upcoming war," Tara said.  Gideon shook his head, "No, for all of eternity.  Nick will lead us in the war, but he will also lead for everything that follows."  Tara looked at him shocked, "And you knew this the entire time?  Why didn't you tell us?"  "It wasn't for me to tell.  Nick had to go through the things he did, to find his way to his true self.  If I'd told him who he was, he would have never believed me, and would have fought against it.  He now knows who he is, and what it is he has to do." Gideon said.

Jade came in and joined the group, sitting down next to Tara.  "Honey, we all have roles in what is about to take place, and each one is important," she said.  Tara nodded, "I know, but it's a little hard to grasp that Nick is Nickolas.  I know that God can do whatever He pleases, but I can't understand how this all came to be."  "Our's isn't to understand everything," Micah said, "It's to do our job.  All the pieces will eventually fall into place, and the big picture will be revealed to us."  Tara smiled at him, "I understand that.  I'm just not sure that Nick being who he is now is going to um, want me around since I've become one of them."  Jade put her arm around Tara's shoulders, "Honey, Nick loves you and he always will.  Him realizing who he is won't change that, even if you are a siren."

"Speaking of that, we need to go to the counsel as soon as possible.  They have to be briefed and then we need to start the training.   It won't take long for the other side to realize what's happened, and when they do, they will be hunting for you and Nick.  We need to get you to a place we can protect," Gideon said.  Tara looked at him, "Training?"  He nodded, "You will be in charge of training a small group to become sirens.  Then you will be able to spread out and find those that refuse to heed Nick's warning.  Nick and Micah will train some of us in their techniques.  Then we will be more equipped to fight them when the war starts."  Tara nodded.  "Honey, it will be hard for you to teach us by yourself, but I'm sure you'll do fine," Jade said, trying to reassure her.  Tara shook her head, "I won't have to do it by myself, I know someone that can help."

Tracy looked at the stunned faces on everyone.  "Guys, he's still the Nick you know, he's just come to realize who he truly is, and what his purpose is," she said.  "But, how do you know?  You were here the entire time," Lyn asked.  "As soon as he appeared I recognized him.  All of us that were here did," she explained, "The next time you see him, you'll see it in his eyes."  Kevin laughed, "I always knew Nick was special, but I never expected this."  Everyone snickered.

"So what happens now?" Kristin asked, "You said that if the alliance was broken that it would start a war?"  Tracy nodded, "There will be a great war between our realms, and yours will be affected as well.  That's where you guys and Brian come in."  "Us?  What can we do?" Howie asked.  Tracy smiled at them, "You can do a lot.  You already have, you just didn't know it.  The things you have gone through together the past few years have happened to prepare you for what you have to do now."  "Which is?" A.J. asked.  "Be yourselves," she said.  "Wait, so what will that do?" Leighanne asked.  "You guys are role models for people all over the world," Tracy said, "It was because of that fact that God brought you into the plan."

"There's a plan?" Kevin asked.  Tracy laughed, "There's always a plan, we just don't know it all the time."  "But you know it now?" he asked.  "Most of it, yes," she answered.  "Well tell us," A.J. said, enthusiastically.  Tracy laughed at him, "OK, let me see if I can explain this where it makes sense to you.  Nick and Brian have always had a unique friendship.  They've proved time and again that they would do anything for the other, even give up their own lives to keep the other safe.  You all know that Nick has an important role to play, but so does Brian.  That's why God allowed Nick to bring him back."  "What is Brian's part in this?" Jackie asked.  "What he does to start it, I'm not sure.  I just know that he will do something to start a revolution of sorts," Tracy said.  "What kind of revolution?" Lyn asked.  "A spiritual one," she answered, "And all of you will play a part.  With you all making an example here, the rest of the world will be affected.  That in turn will affect our realms as well."

"So if one of the realms messes up, it affects the others?" Gary asked.  Tracy nodded, "Everything is connected.  We need Brian to do his job here, to help us with the war."  "So will we know what it is we're suppose to be doing?" Kevin asked.  Tracy nodded, "When the time is right, you will know.  All I know to tell you is to support Brian in whatever he does.  The rest will fall into place."  Everyone looked at Brian.  He was lost in sleep, oblivious to their conversation, or to what importance his future actions would have.  "How long will he sleep?" Lyn asked, taking Brian's hand in hers.  "It will be a while, several days at least," Tracy answered.  Lyn nodded, looking down at the man she loved.  She felt such pride in him, but it was mixed with fear.  She was afraid of the unknown that was to come, and afraid of somehow messing up.  Tracy could feel her emotions.  She searched the room, feeling much the same thing from each person there.  "Guys, I know this is a lot to ask of you, but I also know that God wouldn't ask it unless He knew you could do it.  Go to Him with your fears, and let Him take care of you," she said.  Harold stood up, looking at everyone, "I think this would be a good time to pray."  Everyone nodded in agreement, circling around the bed and joining hands.  Harold waited until everyone was situated, then started, "God, you have shown us that anything is possible if we rely on you.  We come to you now, asking for help in what is to come ........"

Tara walked into Nick's room and sat down in the chair next to the bed.  Nick was still in a deep sleep, his body taking the time it needed to recover from the trauma it had gone through.  Tara stared at him and smiled.  Even in sleep, she could see the difference in him.  She silently thanked God for giving Nick what he'd been searching for all his life; a purpose for being here, and a knowledge of who he really was.  Most people are never given the answer to their questions of why are we here to begin with, so she was glad that Nick was.

Her mind drifted to the days to come.  They didn't have much time to prepare, but she knew they could do it.  "Our side always wins," she whispered, smiling to herself.  "Yes it does, and we will," Nick said, softly.  Tara jumped, not realizing he had woken up.  She looked over at him and was met with his stunning blue eyes, lovingly looking at her.  "I'm sorry I woke you," she said, moving over to the side of the bed and sitting down.  Nick took her hand, scooting over and pulling her into bed with him, "It's alright.  You look tired though."  Tara sighed, "I am, but I couldn't sleep."  Nick brushed a strand of hair from Tara's eyes, he could feel her apprehension around him, and her fear.  He smiled at her, "I love you, you know that right?"  She nodded, unconvincingly.  "Tara, just because I know who I am now, that doesn't change anything between us.  I will always love you," he said.  "But I'm one of them now," she countered.  Nick shook his head, "No you aren't.  You possess the power, but you will never be one of them."  Tara looked down, playing with the seam on Nick's shirt.  Nick lifted her chin up with his finger, making her look at him, "I love you, and I will for all of eternity, so you better get used to it."  Tara laughed, "You are such a nut."  Nick smiled, "That's why you love me."  He pulled her closer to him, leaning in and softly kissing her.  Tara wrapped her arms around him, and as they parted she rested her head on his chest.  Nick stroked her hair, "Now let's get some sleep, we have a lot to do when we get up."  Tara nodded, closing her eyes.  Nick waited until he knew she was asleep before closing his own eyes.  Soon he was asleep as well.
