Chapter 14

"You have got to be kidding me?!" Kira said, in shock.  Howie laughed, "No honey I'm not.  Brian and Lyn are together, and Nick and Tara are back with each other."  "But how?" she asked.  "I'm not really sure.  I think with all that's been going on, it was bound to happen though," he said.  "Yeah, but......wow.  I don't know what to say," she said.  "I know, we were pretty shocked when they told us.  But you should see them.  I haven't seen any of them this happy in a long time," Howie said.  "Yeah, I can't wait to see everyone again.  Speaking of...when are you coming home?  We miss you," Kira said.  Howie smiled.  He loved how she referred to herself as we now that she was expecting.  "Soon I hope.  Nick and Tara went before the counsel today to see if they could stay together.  I guess depending on what the answer is, will depend on how much longer I stay.  I miss you so much," he said.  Kira smiled, "Well it better be soon.  I don't like going to the doctor all by myself."  "I know.  I can't wait to go with you," Howie said.  "Well, I better go," Kira said, "The store is getting busy."  "OK, don't work to hard.  I'll call and let you know when I'm coming home," he said.  "Alright, give everyone my love," she said.  "I will, I love you," Howie replied.  "We love you to, bye," Kira said, hanging up the phone.

Howie got up and walked back into the living room.  Kevin and A.J. looked up from the movie they were watching.  "How's the wife?" A.J. asked.  "Good," Howie said, smiling, "She said to tell you all hi."  "She wondering when we were coming home?" Kevin asked.  Howie nodded as he sat down, "Yeah, Kris to huh?"  "Yup," Kevin said, "I hate being away from her like this."  "Me to," Howie said, thinking about missing Kira's first doctor's appointment.  He really wanted to be there with her, but the situation as it was, wouldn't allow it.  "Yeah, I miss Sarah to," A.J. said.  "Well, I guess when Nick and Tara get back, we can figure out when we're going home," Kevin said.  Howie looked around, noticing that Brian and Lyn were nowhere to be seen.  "Where's the resident love birds?" he asked.  "Went for a walk," both Kevin and A.J. answered.  "Those must be some good walks.  I don't think I've seen Brian walk so much since I've known him," Howie mused.  Kevin and A.J. laughed.  "Yeah, we gotta find out what they do on those walks.  I think we're missing out on something," Kevin said.  "I dunno bout you, but I'm not sure I wanna know what goes on, on those walks," A.J. laughed.  Kevin and Howie glanced at each other and shrugged their shoulders, "True."

Brian and Lyn sat on the beach, watching the waves.  Brian was leaning against a log, with Lyn sitting between his legs, leaning back on him.  He had his arms around her, resting his chin on the top of her head.  "Bri, how long to you think it's gonna take?" she asked.  "I don't know.  They've been gone a long time," he answered.  "Yeah, I'm starting to worry," she said.  "All we can do is pray and hope for the best," he said, kissing the top of her head.  Lyn smiled, looking up at him.  He looked down at her, and she became lost in his eyes.  They were the bluest of blues with the water reflecting in them.  Brian smiled, "See something you like?"  She laughed, "Yeah, I do."  "And what would that be?" he asked, playfully.  Lyn reached up and touched his cheek, "You."  Brian blushed, leaning down and softly kissing her.  Lyn turned so she was facing him, and deepened the kiss, putting her arms around him.  Brian pulled her to him, tangling his hand in her hair, as he ran the other one down her back.

Lyn broke the kiss, staring at him.  She could see the love and desire, dancing in his eyes.  Brian smiled at her as he took her face in his hands, pulling her to him again.  Their lips crashing together, parting and allowing their tongues to roam each others mouths.  She heard a soft moan escape Brian's mouth as they kissed.  His hands were roaming her body, and she savored his touch.  Her entire body was tingling, and she wanted nothing more in the world, than to live in this moment forever.

"Guys," Kevin called from down the beach.  They broke the kiss, both of them breathless.  Brian looked over as Kevin walked up to them.  "Your timing stinks cuz," he said, smiling.  Kevin laughed, "Sorry.  Thought you two might want to know that Nick and Tara are back."  They both sat up.  "They are?  Did they say what happened?" Lyn asked.  Kevin shook his head, "They just got back.  They're changing clothes right now."  Lyn stood up, offering Brian her hand.  He took it, standing up, and immediately had to grab onto her to keep from falling over.  "Bri, you OK?" she asked.  "Yeah, I think I just got up to fast," he said, trying to will the dizziness away.  Kevin took Brian's arm, looking down at him, "You sure?"  "Yeah, I'm fine," Brian said, taking Lyn's hand and walking down the beach toward the house.  As they walked he leaned over and whispered in her ear, "That was some kiss, got me all dizzy."  Lyn laughed, watching Brian smirk at her.  "Kids," Kevin mumbled under his breath.

"Man, this feels so much better," Tara said, after she had shed her dress clothes for a pair of jeans and a tank top.  Tracy laughed at her, "I don't know why you hate dressing up.  You're so pretty when you do."  "Oh, and I'm not pretty now?" Tara asked, in a hurt voice.  Tracy shook her head, "You know what I mean."  Tara laughed, "Yeah, I know."  Nick came into her room, dressed in his favorite sweat pants and t-shirt.  "You look good," he said, smiling.  "So do you," she commented.  Tracy laughed shaking her head, "I will never understand you two."  Nick smiled, "Good, the mystery is part of the charm."  Tara rolled her eyes, "Oh Lord."  "Alright, I'll see you two in the morning," Tracy said, vanishing from the room.

Nick smiled at Tara, "We alone now?"  She shook her head and pointed to the camera on the wall.  Nick frowned, "Poo, then I guess we better go over and talk with them huh?"  "Yeah," she said, walking out of the room and down the hall, Nick following her.  "I hope D cooked, I'm starving," Nick said.  Tara laughed, "I am too."  They exited the house and made the short walk over to Lyn's.  "You wanna play with them a little?" Nick asked, before they knocked.  Tara smiled at him, "That's mean you know."  "I know, so do ya?" he asked.  "Yeah," she said, grinning.  Nick laughed, "I think we were made for each other."  He cleared his throat and wiped the smile off his face, looking very serious, "OK you ready."  Tara nodded, as Nick knocked on the door.

A.J. answered the door, looking very anxious, "Hey guys."  "Hey," Nick said, sounding dejected.  He and Tara made their way inside, realizing at once they were on the receiving end of everyone's stares.  "Is there anything to eat?" Tara asked, sounding meek.  "Um, yeah," Lyn said, jumping up and going into the kitchen to fix them both something.  Tara went with her, not saying a word to anyone.  Nick plopped down on the couch and ran his hand through his hair, looking angry and upset.  The four guys looked at each other, all wanting to know what happened, but to afraid to just come out and ask.  "So, um... long day?" Howie asked.  Nick nodded, not saying a word.  They all sat there in an awkward silence until Lyn and Tara sat the plates down on the table.  Nick got up and walked over, sitting down.  He and Tara silently blessed their food, a habit they had gotten into during his training, then started eating.  Everyone came over and sat at the table while they ate.  Finally Brian couldn't take it anymore, "Guys, what happened?"

Tara looked over at Nick, almost in tears.  "Oh God, they didn't let you?" Lyn asked.  Nick looked back at Tara and sighed.  "Why?  What was their reason for not letting you?" Brian asked.  "They didn't have one," Nick replied.  "What?  There has to be a reason," Kevin said.  Tara could see the horror and concern in all their faces, and immense guilt in Brian and Lyn's.  She looked over at Nick, "Tell them."  He nodded and looked at his friends.  "They didn't have a reason for not letting us, because they
did let us," he said, smiling.  "They let you?" A.J. asked.  Both Nick and Tara nodded, huge smiles on their faces.  "Oh you guys suck!  That was not funny!" Brian laughed.  "We thought it was," Nick said, laughing.  "You should've seen your faces," Tara said.  "You guys are cruel," Lyn said.  "Yeah, I didn't think angels were suppose to be able to lie like that," Howie said.  "They're not," Tara said, "So it's a good thing we aren't angles huh?"  Everyone laughed.

Nick and Tara finished their meal, telling them what happened.  Everyone was amazed at what they were hearing.  It's not everyday that your friend goes to heaven to stand before a counsel to see if they could stay together.  When they had finished eating, Nick and Tara excused themselves and went back over to the guest house.  After they left, Kevin walked over to the monitors and started unplugging them.  "Whatcha doing Kev?" A.J. asked.  "I don't think we want to see or hear what's going on over there tonight," he said, smiling.  "Oh I dunno, might be interesting," A.J. teased.  "Man, you are disturbed," Howie said, laughing.  A.J. shrugged his shoulders, turning the TV on and flipping through the channels.  Brian took Lyn's hand and led her toward her bedroom.  "Night guys," he said.  All three smiled, "Night."  After they entered the room and shut the door, Kevin shook his head.  "What?" Howie asked.  "I dunno bout you, but I'm ready to go home," he said.  Howie nodded, "Me to."  "Yeah, there's to much lovey dovey stuff going on round here.  I miss Sarah," A.J. said.  "I say we make plans tomorrow to head home," Kevin said, sitting down on the couch.  "Yeah, everything looks like it's OK now," Howie agreed.  "Thank God," A.J. said, "If I have to stay here much longer, I'm gonna hurt someone."  The three laughed, settling in for a long night of TV.
