| Chapter 21 Nick and Leighanne were just rounding the corner heading to Brian's room when they saw Brian collapse into the hallway. "Brian!" Leighanne yelled as she and Nick ran toward him. He was gasping for air, his shoulder was bleeding as was his arm where the IV had been. "Brian, what happened?" Nick asked looking around for Tara. "Kevin..." Brian said with tears in his eyes, still gasping for air, "injected...poison." Leighanne and Nick exchanged worried glances. "Brian, are you saying that Kevin tried to kill you?" Leighanne asked. Brian just nodded his head. "Brian, where's Tara?" Nick asked. "Still in the room with him," Brian answered. Nick jumped up and ran to the door, it was locked. He started banging on it, "Tara, open the door!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Robert stared at Tara, she had a power in her eyes that sent a chill down his spine. Tara took a step toward him, and he found himself backing away from her. "What the....." he said. Tara had him against the monitors, "You will leave now." she said. "Hell no, I'm just gettin started, I'm not leaving!" Robert spat, "What the hell are you anyway?" he asked. Tara smiled and put her hand on his chest, pushing him past the monitors, and to the wall. "You don't need to know that," she said. "Kevin, I know you're in there. I want to talk to Kevin now!" Tara said staring into Robert's cold eyes. "He can't hear you," Robert said, wondering why he was so afraid of her. "Kevin, I know you hear me, fight Kevin! You can win this!" Tara said taking Robert's hand in hers. Slowly the anger in Robert's eyes left, and Kevin was there, completely confused. "What's going on?" he asked looking at Tara. "Kevin?" she asked. "Yes, Tara what happened to you, where's Brian?" he asked becoming panicked. Tara reached up and placed her hand on Kevin's cheek, "Let me show you," she said. Suddenly Kevin was overwhelmed with memories. He could see everything that Robert had done, from writing the letters, asking people to place them in Brian's room, to seeing him fall over the ledge after he was shot, to injecting the poison. "Oh God!" Kevin cried as tears streamed down his face. Kevin slid to the floor, trembling. Tara sat down, facing him. "Kevin, you know that wasn't you right?" she asked. Kevin looked up into Tara's eyes, "It was me! It was some part of me, that I can't control!" Kevin covered his face with his hands and broke down. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nick turned back to Leighanne, "Go get security!" he yelled. Leighanne got up and ran down the hall. Just then Howie and A.J. came around the corner. "What the hell?" A.J. said seeing Brian on the floor. "Guys help me! Kevin did this and he's in there with Tara!" Nick yelled. Howie and A.J. joined Nick in trying to ram the door. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tara reached over and grabbed Kevin by the chin and made him look at her. "Kevin, help me get rid of him," she said. Kevin looked at her confused, "I don't understand?" Tara took Kevin's hands in hers and closed her eyes. Kevin was suddenly awash in a blinding light. He could feel something inside him, struggling to stay. "Kevin, help me!" he heard Tara say. Kevin willed the anger out of him. I refuse to let you run my life! You don't belong here, leave now! Suddenly he could see his mirror image staring back at him, "You don't really want me to leave," Robert said. "Yes, I do. You have no part in my life anymore!" Kevin replied. "What will you do without me?" Robert asked, "All our life, I've always been the one to handle things when you couldn't, you can't live without me!" "I don't need you anymore!" Kevin shot back. "Really?" Robert asked, feeling the pressure to leave. "Kevin, trust in God!" Tara said. Kevin looked at Robert and smiled, "That's how I'll get by without you, God will give me strength. He will carry me through my problems. You are no longer needed, or wanted! Leave!" Kevin yelled. Kevin could feel himself getting stronger, there was a wonderful feeling of love and forgiveness all around him. Robert slowly faded from Kevin's sight until he had completely disappeared. Slowly the room came back into focus. Kevin was still engulfed by the most peaceful feeling he had ever experienced. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "OK, one, two, three!" Howie counted, as he, Nick and A.J. rammed their shoulders into the door. The lock gave, and they rushed into the room just in time to see Kevin and Tara both collapse to the floor.
