| Chapter 14 Nick jumped when his cell started ringing. "Hello," he said. "Nick, man, where are you guys?" Howie asked. "Oh shit man, we forgot to call you," Nick said, "We're at the hospital with Brian." "Hospital? What happened?" Howie asked concerned. "Long story short, Brian had another headache, they're gonna run some tests on him in the morning," Nick answered. "Tell me how to get there," Howie said. "D, there's really no use for you coming till morning. Kev is here and Tara. All you'd be able to do is sit," Nick said. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I'll come later, you do know it's like 2am," Howie said. "Wow, no I didn't. Hey how'd the date go?" Nick asked. Howie smiled, "It went really well, I'll tell you about it later." "K, see ya in a few," Nick said. "Right, later," Howie said and hung up. Nick got up off the floor where he'd been sleeping and stretched. Tara looked over at him, "Was that Howie?" "Yeah, I forgot to call him. He just got home." Nick answered. Nick looked over at Brian, he was asleep. "He hasn't woke up yet?" Nick asked. "Yeah he did for a little while, you and Kev were asleep," Tara said. "Did you ask him what happened?" Nick asked. Tara nodded her head. Nick walked over to share the chair she was sitting in. "So, what'd he say?" he asked. Tara took a deep breath, "Lee thinks that Brian and I are having an affair, and that we made all this stuff up to spend time with each other." Nick looked shocked. "What on earth would make her think that?" he asked. Tara shook her head, "I really don't know. I mean I love Brian, but not like that. He's more like my brother ya know." "Yeah, exactly." Nick said. They sat in silence for a moment. Nick began to play with Tara's hair. "Baby, did he say where Lee might be?" Nick finally asked. "No, he doesn't know where she went," Tara answered. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Leighanne lay in bed starring at the ceiling. Gary had fixed up his guest room for her. She was feeling a little better about things, Gary had let her get her feelings out. But she still didn't know what to do. She was sure that Brian didn't want to see her, and she really didn't want to talk to him. How could he do that to me? she thought. She turned over on her side and clutched the extra pillow. God, how did things get like this? I know he's cheating. Those things he told me, they can't be true. I can't believe he thought I'd buy that explanation. God, I'm so angry and hurt. I don't know what to do anymore. My feelings are all over the board here. A little help would be nice. Please just give me some sort of direction, I'm so lost. She wiped the tears away and closed her eyes. Soon she was asleep. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brian," Tara said. Brian opened his eyes and looked at her. "Brian, they're here to take you for the MRI now," Tara said. "I don't wanna.....," Brian started. "Brian, I don't care. Your having one done whether you like it or not," Kevin said sternly. Brian looked over at Kevin, "I've got to be in the studio today, I feel fine now." Kevin crossed his arms and stared at Brian. Brian knew he wasn't going to win, "OK, but someone call the studio and tell them I wont be there." Nick pulled out his cell, "I'll do it." The orderlies got Brian moved over to the gurney and settled. "How long is this gonna take?" Brian asked. "Usually bout an hour," one of the orderlies replied. Brian shuddered, "You mean I'm gonna be in that tube thing for an hour?" Tara could tell Brian wasn't liking that idea. She leaned down and whispered in his ear, "If you get antsy, just talk to me. I'll be right outside, OK?" Brian looked at her and smiled, "Thanks." The orderlies took Brian down the hall. Tara went with them. Nick and Kevin sat back down. Nick turned the TV on and flipped through the channels. Kevin looked over at him, "Nick, everything you told me last night about what's going on with Brian. Do you think that has something to do with the reason we can't find Lee? I mean she should be here." Nick turned off the TV and looked at Kevin. "Tara talked to Bri last night while we were asleep. Lee thinks that she and Bri are having an affair," Nick said. Kevin just looked at him, "Why?" Nick shrugged his shoulders. They sat there a while, Nick turned the TV back on. Nick's cell rang. "Hello," he said. "Hey Nick, how do I get there?" Howie asked. "OK, here's the shortest way........" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Leighanne pulled into her drive and up to the house. Gary was following her in his car. She wanted to get a few things before they went to the set. She walked in the house and headed upstairs. Gary came in and had a seat in the living room waiting on her. Tyke and Litty came over to investigate. "What do you guys what?" Gary asked. Tyke barked a couple times, then started pulling on Gary's pants leg. "Oh no you don't," Gary said shooing him away. "Anne, your dogs are attacking me down here!" Gary yelled. Leighanne came downstairs with her bag. She walked over to the dogs, "You guys want breakfast?" Tyke and Litty ran into the kitchen. Leighanne went to feed them, Gary followed her. "Brian didn't stay here last night," Leighanne said as she was getting the dog food out. "Really, how do you know?" Gary asked leaning against the counter. "The bed wasn't slept in," Leighanne answered. She turned around to get the dogs some water when she saw the light flashing on the machine. She walked over and saw there where two messages. She hit the button. "Lee, this is Nick. Tara and I are at the hospital with Brian, call me when you get this." Leighanne looked at Gary with fear in her eyes. "Lee, this is Nick again. Brian's gonna have an MRI done in the morning, please call me when you get in." Leighanne stood there starring at the phone. Gary walked over and put his hand on her shoulder, "You gonna call?" She looked up at him, "I'm afraid to." "You don't have to go up there, just call and see what's going on," Gary said. Leighanne nodded her head, took a deep breath and pick up the phone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Howie, Nick, and Kevin were sitting in Brian's room watching TV when Nick's cell rang. "Hello," he said. "Nick, what happened?" Leighanne asked. "Lee, where've you been, we tried your cell like all night," Nick said. "I stayed with a friend, what happened?" Leighanne asked. "Tara and I stopped by last night after you left, Brian had a headache and passed out. The doctor's been running allot of tests on him. He's having a MRI done right now," Nick said. "Has the doctor found any reason for his headaches yet?" Leighanne asked. "No, not yet. Lee are you gonna come up here?" Nick asked. She thought for a moment, "Nick, I don't think that would be a good idea right now." "Lee, what you're thinking about Brian and Tara, it's not happening," Nick said. "Nick, I don't wanna talk bout it. Call me when you find something out," she said then hung up. "What'd she say?" Kevin asked. Nick looked over at him, "She's not coming. She wants me to call if we find out anything." Kevin shook his head, "That's just not right." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tara, how much longer? I can't stand this, Brian thought. Not long now. Don't move or you'll mess everything up and then they'll have to do it all over, Tara thought. She was standing in the room where the techs were administering the test. She purposely stood where she couldn't see the monitors. She didn't what to see something then make Brian nervous about it. Tara, can you see anything? Brian asked. Tara laughed, No for the hundredth time. Suddenly the table started to move. Brian breathed a sigh of relief, they were finally done. An orderly brought in a wheelchair to take Brian back to his room. Tara walked over and took the wheelchair, "I'll take him back," she said to the orderly. As they made their way down the hall Brian looked up at Tara, "Thanks for doing that. I hate those things with a passion." Tara smiled, "No problem." "Um have you heard anything from Lee?" Brian asked. Tara looked down at him, "No, I'm sorry we haven't." They continued down the hall in silence. The doctor walked into the testing room and sat down. "OK, let's see what we have here," he said pulling Brian's results up on the screen. "Oh my....." Chapter 15 |
