Moonchild, Dreamchild

Moonchild, Dreamchild

(Skyler’s Theme)

The fairest rays kissed the earth;

All the starlight held its breath

As it watched the beautiful, awful birth

And the heartbreakingly gorgeous death.

As the sunlight slipped into the shadows,

A glorious cry was heard;

All creation, held silent, now knows

Into what trap the moonlight was lured.

From the seduction of the Dreamer

Comes a new and terrible sight;

The mother screams for the father to leave her

And delivers the consumer of light.

‘Cross her dripping face breaks a smile

As she cuddles her dreamchild close;

Child of moonlight, borne of trial –

Melancholy baby, midnight rose.

Inside her soul a war always rages,

Sometimes tearing her heart;

Light and darkness in conformity’s cages,

But they never tear her apart.

Moonchild, Dreamchild, where do you belong?
Somewhere between the earth and sky.

Move in your dance, in the starlight song,

And never question why.
